Ethane cracking
Ethylene is produced by cracking a pure stream of ethane in an isothermal tubular reactor (ID=50mm) at 6 atm. The ethane enters at 1100 K and 2 mol/s. C2 H6 C2 H4 + H2 A C+D Determine the volume require to achieve a conversion of 75%. Please plot the concentration of ethane, ethylene and hydrogen down the length of your reactor. Solve analytically and numerically and compare your solutions. If using Excel for the numerical solution try step sizes of 0.1m down the tube length. Data from literature suggests that the reaction is elementary i.e. rA = kCA and that k = 3.492 s1 at 1100 K
