Below are the nominations for next years committee. Please have a look through them and come to next weeks rehearsal with an idea of who you would like to vote for! The people you choose will represent the society (and send you emails like this), so it is really important that you think carefully about who you would like on your committee!
Chair
Emily Cole
Info about me: I am a 1st year psychology student. I love singing- which you can probably guess as I am in all 3 of the singsoc choirs!? And have always had music and the creative arts in my life and I know this will continue to be the case for a long time to come. Other than that I really enjoy travelling! It is one of my ambitions to volunteer in all 7 continents (though Antarctica may need a bit of creativity to achieve). ! Why I am running: Choir has been a big part of my life and I would like to share that passion with as many people I can. I have always been in a choir since before I can remember, this is why I would like to run for a position on the committee. Being in second year will mean that will have more time to give to the society, something which may be a challenge when the pressures of third year arise. I have always been known as the organised one and I enjoy putting this into practice (sad I know!!), so give me as task or a challenge and it will be sorted. SingSoc is always a highlight to my week and I hope that if I am chosen to be chair to continue to make it the highlight of your weeks. Re-open nominations
Treasurer
Robyn Ward
Hi Guys! I am Robyn, your current Inclusions Officer (The girl with the biscuits and a bit mental about the pencils) I have loved being involved on the committee of SingSoc this year and would really love the opportunity to try out another role. I will be starting my PhD next September and really like to be your treasurer. I am extremely organized and a bit pedantic, which I hope will serve me well as a treasurer. I would really like to stay on committee and keep giving back to SingSoc as it has been one of the best things about university so far.

Secretary
Matthew Pringle
Re-running for Secretary!!! Hi all, most of you should know me (even if just as the name at the bottom of the Weekly Bulletin). I'm currently (still) in my Second Year of studying Aerospace Engineering. My main interests involve: singing (obviously), archery, anime, video games and the cultivation of facial hair. I like to think of myself as a fairly sociable guy, having been active in roughly 15-20 societies since joining the university in 2011. I am running for Secretary as it's written on my SingSoc hoody and I'd rather not have to purchase a new one. I've held the role for the past year and, so far, the society has not descended into anarchy. I like to think I have been meticulous, while still throwing in a few amusing quirks during the weekly emails (despite the occasional battle with the poor formatting afforded by G-Mail). This year I have held committee positions in four different societies and out of all of them, none have run as efficiently, yet friendly, as SingSoc's committee. Therefore, I would like to say that I am requesting the privilege of being allowed on this committee for upcoming year. Re-open nominations
Social Secretary
Lucy Draper
My name is Lucy Draper, and I would like to nominate myself for the position of Social Secretary. I have not been in SingSoc for very long at all, but in my short time I have had so much fun singing with such a great group of people. I adore singing, but I don't have enough time to do it, which is why I love coming to SingSoc so much! I'm currently in my first year studying English Language and Literature, and I love doing events management on the side. I have helped organise three events at the Ridge in Ranmoor over this year, and I am currently involved in a scheme with the REP organising two more events in May for students in accommodation. I feel as if I could bring a lot to the role of Social Secretary with my experience this year, and simply because I love what the society does in bringing together so many people who just love to sing. Membership Secretary
Rebecca Murray
Hi, my name is Rebecca (Becky) and I am a third year Urban Studies and Planning student. You probably all know my face by now as I am the person at the front who gives you the keyrings, entering you into the magical world of SingSoc music hire! Outside of lecture hours my interests include baking (so much baking!), eating (more like gorging) and reading or watching TV (gotta love some drama!). I have really enjoyed being your Membership Secretary this year and wish to continue in this role for the upcoming (amazing) SingSoc year! I have thoroughly enjoyed being the first port of call for new members and letting my enthusiasm loose in my emails! I am smiley and approachable, which I feel has helped welcome new and old members to the society. Teamed with being organised and conscientious, I feel I have fulfilled my role this year and kept things up to date and methodical. I have never come across such a lovely group to work with and don't want my time on committee to end. SingSoc is a fantastic society (my favourite by far!) and I cannot encourage people enough to join - so vote for me for Membership Secretary 14/15! ! Re-open nominations
Librarian
Jane Ellard
Hello, I am a second year studying English literature. I think I would be suited to the role, because I'm organised and dedicated to singsoc: I've done lots of volunteering and did loads of flyering for the concerts last term whilst keeping up with academic and rowing commitments.
Debbie Southwell
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in January last year with a Masters in Librarianship and I returned in September to work part time as an Evening Supervisor at the Information Commons. Thankfully I get Thursdays off so I can still attend choir! Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend rehearsals on Monday evenings until 9pm, but I am hopeful that this will not be insurmountable and that alternative arrangements can be made if necessary. I have always enjoyed singing and I currently sing as a second soprano. I have been singing in choirs since I was about 10 and I was a member of SingSoc as a student. I was unable to stand for a committee position as a student as I was only doing a one years course. I worked in the Midlands for the rest of the academic year, before returning to Sheffield this September. I love the city, and SingSoc, so Im very pleased to be back! I have always wanted to be more involved with SingSoc and I believe I would be really well suited to this role. Being a professional librarian means I have all the skills needed to contribute to the committee and oversee the music. I am exceptionally organized, I enjoy liaising with a wide variety of people and I thrive on tracking down resources and creating organization from chaos! I also have some contacts in the library world, which hopefully might lead to discounts for music hire (no promises but Ill certainly try). Being SingSocs Librarian will not only enable me to get involved with the committee, to meet more people and do something I love, but if appointed, it has the potential to help me expand my knowledge and support my professional development, which is an added bonus to the role. I am reliable, friendly, passionate and organized, and I would love the opportunity to be the societys Librarian, now that I am able to stand for election.

Digital Publicist
Mathy Selvakumaran
Hopefully you all know who I am - whether you know me as 'that girl with the camera', or 'that girl that ordered your lovely warm SingSoc hoodies, or 'that girl that's constantly live-tweeting our rehearsals'. If you don't (where have you been the last few months??), my name is Mathy, and I am your Publicity Officer this year. I've been in SingSoc since 2008 - yep, you read that right, 6 years - and I love being a part of this choir (if you weren't here last year to witness my enthusiasm when I was Volunteering & Charity Co-ordinator, then you missed out). I've enjoyed my job so much this year that I would love to continue on committee again next year, as Digital Publicist. If you'd like some concrete reasons why you should vote for meIn the year I've officially been Publicity Officer (and the half year before that when I helped run our Twitter account), I have: ! redesigned our website (it was rubbish before, trust me) ! hugely increased the society's presence on social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) ! ...and created new social media accounts (our Instagram account (instagram.com/sheffsingsoc *cheeky plug*) lets us upload really quick clips of rehearsals online as they happen) And if you (re-)elect me, I promise to continue being awesome. Inclusions Officer
Rachel Dunn
Hi, I'm Rachel and I'm a first year biochemistry student. In Singsoc I am an alto (you probably know me as Emily's friend or the one who never stands still!) and in my spare time I play flute and guitar, and spend a bit too much time baking cakes... I am applying for the role of inclusions officer because when I first started at uni and joined Singsoc I was incredibly shy, and wasn't sure that I would fit in, but I have since found it to be a welcoming and friendly society. I feel that I am now a part of Singsoc and would love to offer this opportunity to next year's new members, whatever their personalities, interests or backgrounds. I believe that I would be good at this role as, although I am quite quiet, I am a friendly, approachable person and am happy to listen to anyone's problems, however small.
VS.
Jessica McMaster
I moved to England from Northern Ireland two years ago to study Biochemistry and Genetics as a Masters degree. I am currently employed by the University as a Departmental Open Day guide for students and parents. I am a vegetarian, and my interests are in genetics, psychology and music. I love classic rock, and my favourite bands are The Beatles and Oasis. I am running for Inclusions Officer because music should be accessible to everyone, and it is important to me that people of all needs and abilities are comfortable in their society. I am very fond of SingSoc as a community, not just a club, and even met two of my current housemates here! I am approachable and a good listener, and would love the responsibility of ensuring everyone feels as included throughout the year as I have. Re-open nominations
Section Leaders
Soprano: Sarah Boddy
Hello, Im Sarah Boddy and would like to be the Soprano Section Leader for SingSoc in the next academic year (2014 2015). I have been a member of the society for two years and have loved singing in Main Chorus, Socii and Ladies Choir. I am suited to this role because I am approachable, reliable and always happy to help which is important when welcoming new members and dealing with their enquiries. I have had the pleasure of fulfilling this role over the last year and would love it if you voted for me so that I can continue to do so to the very best of my ability.
Bass: Walker
This is Walker! I'm interested in the position of Bass section leader. I'm friendly and open and passionate about singing! The society is very welcoming and I have such great fun in rehearsals and socials. I want to contribute back to the society and make the future members feel at home. Re-open nominations
