630 Occupational Profile Reflection

The occupational profile assignment was my first opportunity to interview a client from my fieldwork. This was the first chance I was able to build a therapeutic rapport with and gain an understanding of who that individual was. The client who I based my occupational profile on was the first evaluation that I observed. This evaluation involved using an assessment similar to the FIM. The evaluation was specific to the facility and included ADLs, mobility, upper extremity ROM, strength, and tone. My observations and recommendations for treatment planning involved having the family involved in the process, talking to the client and making them feel safe and comfortable. I also considered the importance of talking to the client throughout the therapy session, explaining the process and the purpose. This evaluation gave me an understanding of the types of questions to ask my clients in order to get the information required. I was also able to come up with evidence based interventions based on the clients wants and needs.
