G REFLECTION Artifact G Reflection: Growth and Development Proposal Brief The proposal created in this artifact for presentation at the NASPA 2014 National Conference was my first attempt at writing and submitting a program proposal for a conference

of any size. My motivation for collaborating to present this program was my passion for ensuring that the student population that I work with is visible and well served by sister institutions. I believe that commuter student issues are important and often fly under the radar when it comes to resource appropriation within divisions of student development. Professional Identity Previous to writing this proposal, my professional identity did not include that of a presenter or originator of ideas or research. After writing this proposal, I began to see that there is great importance in disseminating the work that my institution, department, colleagues, and I are doing in higher education. I felt that I did have experience, education, and something important to say that colleagues in the field could perhaps learn from and use to improve practice on their campuses. It is my hope that I have continued opportunities to improve my program proposal writing skills and one day am selected to share with my colleagues in the field the ways in which I serve students.
