Five Year Professional Development and Action Plan

Year One June 2014-May 2015 Career - Obtain first position in events, annual giving, stewardship, or alumni relations - Learn institutional culture and priorities - Participate in fundraising initiatives Organizations/Conferences - Join professional development organizations: NDOA, AFP, CASE - Volunteer with professional organizations - Attend conference Community Involvement - Join local non-profit development or fundraising committee Skills - Build qualification, solicitation, and stewardship skills - Be able to create meaningful student calling scripts and direct mail pieces that increase the pipeline of giving for my institution Year Two June 2015-May 2016 Career - Second year in events, annual giving, stewardship, or alumni relations - Increase responsibilities (supervise, program/event planning) Year Three June 2016-May 2017 Career - Obtain position as assistant director of development or director of annual giving, stewardship, or alumni relations Year Four June 2017-May 2018 Career - Second year as assistant director of development or director of annual giving, stewardship, or alumni relations Year Five June 2018-May 2019 Career - Obtain position as major gift officer or director of development Organizations/Conferences - Continue to serve on board of professional development organization(s) - Attend and volunteer at conferences and local trainings/workshops Community Involvement - Continue involvement with local non-profit board with increased responsibilities
