Thesis: Teen gun violence in New Orleans has been out of control since beginning of time. Especially young black teens, which reports tells Gun violence is the leading cause of death among black teens. New Orleans has one or the highest per capita murder rates in the United States. For the last decade, statistics shown murder rates four to six times higher than the national average. New Orleans is the weakest city for gun laws. Those laws are costing children, particularly black children, their lives.

i. New Orleans gun violence A. Death rate has caused many broken hearts and familys. B. Gun laws will never help without the push for better laws ii. Teen violence A. Murder victims are 9 times out of 10 are where at the wrong place at he wrong time. B. These teen or adults are being killed at very young ages, its bad to were most of them dont expect to live pass a certein age. C. Causes for these deaths are sometimes from argements or small unnecessary beefs iii. Easy access to gun A. It is to easy for our youth to get there hand on fire arms, like they do. You can easly walk up to some one and ask, where can i get one?. B. Where are they coming from?. Ive even seen a 14 year old with a gun. Why and where would u find a gun at that age. New Orleans has many years of gun violence in her jacket. Reports say Louisiana had 19.06 fire arms deaths per 100, 000 people in 2010. A 2013 total show of 154 would be 12 percent less than the 174 murders New Orleans produce. Also 65 percent of gun murders victims

were between the ages of 15 and 24 were Black. Killing an average of 16 teens a day, people would riot in the street if that many black children were killed each day by white lynch mobs who pulled them out of their houses and hanged in the public square, said by Bill Cosby at the essence festival this year. My main question is why more blacks leaders arent out there saying similar things. Such as fight for less gun violence between the black cultures. We need to see how they cope with stress so that we can teach other students those coping skills.

Teens in their neighborhoods have unlimited easy access to guns, which leaders to the high gun violence rates thats up right now. Some people should learn how to settle their differences that otherwise used to be settled through nasty words, fist fights, and by guns, that result in an immediate death. I read that, a teenager on Shell Shocked interview told the reporter that I would say that a Gun is way easier to down here than a text book. Murders in the streets of New orleans are 9 times out of 10, are caused by being in the wrong place and wrong time. Most research have shown that these deaths on the streets come from little unthought out problems between friends, family, or other people that you think you know or just about the same way around for them too. Many times it gets hard to keep hear about this Teen then another Teen have been shot on the block of or in generel. Most likely, more then a hand full of yound black teen/ adults are dieing over the smaething every day. Whats that?. Its from not using your hand right, its form being a follower, and it finally comes from letting other things get to you fast, such as peer pressure. In the real world, peer pressure means the suggestion to do what we don't want to do so we will belong. There Countless children and youth are exposed to gun violence at home, at school, in their communities,or through the media. Causes for these deaths are sometimes from argements or small unnecessary beefs. According to the Office of

Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), more youth began carrying guns. Even youth who were not involved in drugs began to feel the need to carry a weapon for protection. Parents should stay alert to signs that their teenagerdoes not feel safe.a situation that can lead to carrying a gun. Boys, in particular, may not know how to tell their parents about their fears. They may feel that showing fear decreases their image or increases their vulnerability. Where are they coming from?. Ive even seen a 14 year old with a gun. Why and where would u find a gun at that age. Its really bad see that someone that young think they may need a gun to live to see the next day, maybe but that not how things should be. People with access to a gun are three times more likely to commit suicide and almost twice as likely to be the victim of a homicide. Its to easy to come across gun these days, many guns are being cycled through the street of New Orlaens. This iis the main cause of our high crime rate now.

Most teens today are getting picked up on gun charges, not knowing that when they are buying or stealing these guns, they may connect to a crime or a body. The street term for these guns are Hot or Dirty. Just the other someone asked another person if they waas up to buying a gun. Just that shows you how easy for anyone form my age and younger to his/her hands on a guns. Behind things such as that you may never kno whats goin on at home pr in the persons mind when they decides that the only way to handle this is by simply, pulling this trigger. If gun violence is the leading cause of death among or black young, then why pick that gun up?. Its almost natural that you know somebody who havr gotten shot. Like, if you dont that anyone wont know somethings wrong with you.

"If you have a firearm readily available and something bad has happened to you, you might make a rash, impulsive decision that will have a bad outcome," said study lead author

Andrew Anglemyer. The issue of firearm accessibility garnered lots of attention. The new report analyzed the results of 15 previous gun studies, 13 of which were done in the United States. Gun ownership is higher in the United States than anywhere else in the world, and 31,000 U.S. deaths each year are attributable to firearms, according to background information included in the study. This gets even harder when it comes to childrens lives being taken. So, again someone needs to take a stand against gun violence before we end up into another war. Maybe a background check will help; its a start to try and stop the violence and having guns into the wrong hands. Growing up in the city of New Orleans, there was always a mixture of fun and panic. You could sit outside, enjoying the cool breeze while watching the neighborhood residents football or just dancing out in the streets. Youd go on to use whatever was available to have a good time and make the most out of such limited resources. Hanging outside enjoying the innocence of childhood was almost always interrupted by the sounds of rapid gun fire. Following shouts, neighbors ran and voices screamed turning the block into a deserted island. No more football, no more playing outside, no more anything.
