Mythology and Folklore Lesson: Perseus

I. Objectives After 20 minutes, the students should be able to: 1. Understand the story of Perseus. 2. Show appreciation of the story through the use of film viewing. 3. Act-out different values in the story through role playing. II. Subject Matter 1. Topic A. The Story of Perseus 2. Skill A. Viewing 3. Materials A. Overhead projector B. Laptop C. Speakers III. Strategies/Procedures 1. Lesson Proper A. Motivation a. Individual Activity -Each student must write one virtue/value on the board as instructed by the teacher. No word should be repeated. 2. Presentation of the Lesson A. Viewing Activity - Let the students watch the story of Perseus. 3. Practical Skill A. Group Activity

a. Role Playing - The class is divided into 3 groups, and each group must act-out one of Perseus good traits (values) as depicted in the story. The three (3) groups must come up to a scenario that shows one of Perseus traits. Their group performances are judged according to the following criteria: 30% - Depiction of Perseus Trait 25% - Creativity 20% - Actuality (how real is it) 10% - Clarity 10% - Emotion 5% - Group Cooperation 4. Generalization A. Who is Perseus? B. What deeds/traits does Perseus showed in the story? IV. Evaluation a. Quiz

- Let the students answer the following questions in sheet of pad paper. 1. Who is Perseus? 2. Is there any symbolism used in the story? If there is, give one (1) example and indicate what does it symbolizes. 3. Why Perseus chose weaponry rather than the advice of the elders? 4. Give at least three (3) values showed in the film. V. Assignment - Read the next story The Myth of Sisyphus and make a narrative out of it.
