Kazi

M.A (SW), M.Phil (PSW), Ph.D.

Prof. S.A. Kazi was graduated in 1981 from J.T. College, Gadag, joined for his post-graduation in Social Work at Karnataka University, Dharwad. After the M.A. (SW) degree joined for M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work at NIMHANS, Bangalore in 1984. Immediately after the M.Phil. degree in 1986 he worked in Al-Ameen Medical College, Bijapur in the Department of Community Medicine and Psychiatry. Later he registered for his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. G. Nardev, the then Additional Professor of Psychiatric Social Work in NIMHANS in 1989. He was awarded Ph.D. in 1992 than Joined as lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He was promoted as Senior Lecturer in 1997 and Reader in 2002. He has served in various capacities as Chairman of the Department, for three terms of two year each, and Chairman of BOS and BOE in the same University. He has also served as NSS Officer, Programme Coordinator, Warden and also as Academic Council member etc. during his stay in Gulbarga University between 1993 and 2007. In September 2007 he was appointed as Professor of Social Work at Karnataka State Womens University, Bijapur. He has also served in this University as Registrar between April 2009 and July 2011. For a brief period he has also worked as Vicechancellor In-charge in the same University. Now he is appointed as acting Vice-Chancellor on 30.01.2012 of Karnataka State Womens University, Bijapur by the Governor of Karnataka. He has published several papers in various Journals and presented papers in the conferences, workshops etc. He has visited Germany, Austria and Switzer land in a delegation of University on an academic assignment. Eight candidates have completed their Ph.D. and 12 M.Phil. under his guidance. At present 6 candidates are pursuing Ph.D. under his guidance.
