Strengths/Concerns: Starting in January, Mrs. Costinak taught a new Math U See lesson twice per week. After the February break, she allowed students that were not at lesson 9A to continue to work on corrections and catching up. The students who were at lesson 9A were given math activities that challenged concepts taught in Math U See and developed their patterning and sorting skills. Starting next week (March 10th) they will begin lesson 9A as most students will be caught up to this lesson. Mrs. Costinak has held back teaching
this lesson until most students were caught up because, according to her, it is such a fundamental shift in mathematical thinking and those students who are behind in their lessons are the ones that will benefit the most from focussed lesson attention with their peers at the tables when doing workbook activities.
Final Rating
