Mackin Books and iPad Guidelines for Title I Buildings GUIDELINES for IPADS The purpose of the iPad

purchase is to provide support to Tier 2 classrooms with RTI.

Most of the time, the Tier 2 classroom will be taught by the classroom teachers. Therefore, CLASSROOM TEACHERS have been included in the training. More specifically, classroom teachers who will be teaching either Tier 2 or Tier 3. Each grade level will get one set of 6 iPads (5 for the students, 1 for the teacher) for the Tier 2 room, and 1 iPad for the Tier 3 room (for the teacher). If the Tier 2 classroom isnt using the iPads, they could be used in the Tier 3 classroom. Those students will also likely be Title I students, so there is no problem with compliance and Title I. Any students who use the iPads will need to qualify as Title I students. Tier 2 classroom teachers and Tier 3 classroom teachers will be receiving an iPad at the training. The rest of the iPads will be ready at the media center in your building. All iPads are to be stored in the Tier 2 classroom at each grade level, at each building during the school year.

Teacher iPads are to be used for preparation, planning, and guiding the groups. However, it is also assumed that if Tier 2 classrooms have groups of 6, or six students who might be working independently on the device, the teachers iPad will be available to the students. Same thing in Tier 3. There have been some concerns expressed about the fact that this iPad purchase is supplanting what the district is already doing with their iPad purchases. Please note that the intention of these devices is to provide ADDITIONAL support to Tier 2 classrooms and Title I students. There will likely be some documentation required to prove this. It won't be much, it won't be difficult, but will likely be necessary. I will have information about this ready by the 23rd.
