Section 3111F includes requirements for electrical equipment. wirin%. cables. controls and electrical au$iliaries located in ha6ardous areas. 3110F.#.#.3 Re&ote O-e !tion. The remote control s'stem. where provided. shall conform to the recommendations of the O)<MF ,10.3-. The remote operation shall be facilitated b' either a pendant control s'stem or b' a hand7held radio controller !"#. The pendant control s'stem shall be equipped with a plu%7in capabilit' to an active connector located either in the vicinit' of the loadin% arms. or at the loadin% arm outboard end on the triple swivel. and hard7wired into the control console. The umbilical cord runnin% from the triple swivel to the control console shall be attached to the loadin% arm. Other umbilical cords shall have sufficient len%th to reach the ma$imum operational limits !"#. The h'draulic drive c'linders shall be mounted and meet either the mountin% requirements of 3"S<=!"F93# T3.>.? *(71;;> ,10./or equivalent. <n hi%h velocit' current !@ 1./ Anots# areas. all new marine loadin% arms shall be fitted with quicA disconnect couplers and emer%enc' quicA release s'stems in conformance with Section >.0 and ?.0 of ,10.3-. <n compl'in% with this requirement. attention shall be paid to the commentar' and %uidelines in 9art <<< of reference ,10.3-. Out7of7limit. balance and the approach of out7of7 limit alarms shall be located at or near the loadin% arm console.

3110F.#.#.# E"ect ic!" Co&-onent' +N,. The followin% criteria shall be implemented4 1. &quipment shall be provided with a safet' disconnectin% device to isolate the entire electrical s'stem from the electrical mains in

3110F.0.1 3inc4e'. 1. (. Dinches and ancillar' equipment shall be suitable for a marine environment !"=&#. Dinches shall be provided with a fail7safe braAin% s'stem. capable of holdin% the load under all conditions. includin% a power failure !"=&#. Dinches shall be full' reversible !"# ShocA. transient. and abnormal loads shall be considered when selectin% winch s'stems !"#. Dinches shall have limit switches and automatic trip devices to prevent over7travel of the drum in either direction. 2imit switches shall be tested. and demonstrated to function correctl' under operatin% conditions without inducin% undue tensions or slacA in the winch cables !"=&#. Bnder all operatin% conditions. there shall be at least two full turns of cable on %rooved drums. and at least three full turns on un%rooved drums !"=&#. Movin% winch parts which present cau%ht7in ha6ards to personnel shall be %uarded !"=&#. Dinches shall have clearl' identifiable and readil' accessible stop controls !"=&#.

Shore7to7vessel access for personnel shall conform to (; )F* 1;1/.?0 ,10.1;-. Sections 1;!b# and (1!b# of ,10.(0- and the followin%4 1. Shore7to7vessel access s'stems shall be desi%ned to withstand the forces from dead. live. wind. vibration. impact loads. and the appropriate combination of these loads. The desi%n shall consider all the critical positions of the s'stem in the stored. maintenance. maneuverin%. and deplo'ed positions. where applicable !"#. The minimum live load shall be /0 psf on walAwa's and (/ plf with a (00 pounds minimum concentrated load in an' location or direction on handrails !"#. The walAwa' shall be not less than 3> inches in width !"# and not less than (0 inches for e$istin% walAwa's !&#. The shore7to7vessel access s'stem shall be positioned so as to not interfere with the safe passa%e or evacuation of personnel !"=&#. Cuardrails shall be provided on both sides of the access s'stems with a clearance between the inner most surfaces of the %uardrails of not less than 3> inches and shall be maintained the full len%th of the walAwa' !"#. Cuardrails shall be at a hei%ht not less than 33 inches above the walAwa' surface and shall include an intermediate rail located midwa' between the walAwa' surface and the top rail !"=&#. The walAwa' surface. includin% self7levelin% treads. if so equipped. shall be finished with a safe non7slip footin% accommodatin% all operatin% %an%wa' inclinations ,10.(1-!"=&#. Bnder no circumstances shall the operatin% inclination of the walAwa' e$ceed >0 de%rees from the hori6ontal or the ma$imum an%le recommended b' the manufacturer. whichever is less !"=&#. The undersides of aluminum %an%wa's shall be protected with hard plastic or wooden strips to prevent bein% dra%%ed or rubbed across an' steel decA or component !"=&#.
