Lesson Title: Presentation Day Lesson #: 20 General Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the people and stories

of Canada Specific Objectives: Knowledge: Recognize and demonstrate how social cohesion can be achieved in a pluralistic society Skill: Discuss personal understanding of the lives of people or characters in various communities, cultural traditions, places and times. Language: Comparing/Contrasting different experiences through oral presentation Introduction (i.e. Bridge): Teacher introduces the project and what the students have been working on Pre-Assessment: Teacher asks each student to say one thing theyve learned about multicultural society and immigration to Canada. Participatory Learning: Time 10 min 50 min Participation (teacher) Intro, pre-assessment Teacher picks 5 students per 10 minutes to look around at the other students journals Other classes can drop in and look around as well. Present books to others (or spend ten minutes walking around and looking at other students presentations and journals).

Post-Assessment: Each student leaves and exit slip about one thing theyve learned from someone elses journal and story. Teacher observation of presentation skills. Transition: Mingling time saying goodbye to guests and such. Possible Modifications: - opportunity to have assistance presenting journals. - opportunity to present in a smaller environment, perhaps just in front of the teacher if the library is too overwhelming.
