Lesson Title: Fantastic Front Covers

Lesson #: 17 Michelle Varem General Objective: Students will record or document activities, people and discoveries (Art 5.10) Specific Objectives: Knowledge: Develop themes with an emphasis on global awareness based on people (Art 5.10iiE) Skill: Decorate items personally created using details, patterns, or textures. needed. Provide some interesting and SS relevant things to paste on front cover for students who may not have had access to anything at home because of financial need or other reasons. (for example period appropriate fabric, old photos and clippings, etc). Research Connections: The Matchbox Diary, although a work of fiction, really shows the importance of using objects to tell a story, or represent different events. The students will have read it in a previous lesson, and this will be a good connection for them to understand why they are using different mediums in the creation of their front cover. (Fleischman)
