Itinerary :
8:15 AM : Students begin to board the bus 9:40 AM : Student arrive at the Town 9: 45 AM : Students will see a presentation that introduces them to the Town and the activities they will be doing at the town 10: 15 AM : Students take a tour of the Town 11: 30 AM : Students take a tour of the Fire Station 12:30 AM : Student eat Lunch (bring own lunches or sack lunches prepared by school) 1: 00 AM: Students play at the Safety Town in the Cars 2: 00 PM: Students put every car in its garage 2: 05 PM : Students load the bus 2: 40 PM : Students arrive back at school 3: 00 PM: Students go home

Objective : Students will know how injuries to passengers can be prevented by correctly using safety belts when riding in vehicles. Students will student will be able to identify parts of a vehicle that are dangerous and should be avoided by children. Students will be able to identify street signs for safety references. Students will be able to understand the cardinal directions. TEKS : 113.12. Social Studies (4) Geography. The student understands the relative location of places. The student is expected to: (A) locate places using the four cardinal directions; (11) Government. The student understands the purpose of rules and laws. The student is expected to: (A) explain the purpose for rules and laws in the home, school, and community; and (B) identify rules and laws that establish order, provide security, and manage conflict. (2) Health behaviors. The student understands that safe, unsafe, and/or harmful behaviors result in positive and negative consequences throughout the life span. The student is expected to: (A) identify and use protective equipment to prevent injury; (B) name safe play environments; Assignment 1 (Before): The student will view a Pre -Visit Presentation which will cover Safety Town rules. Then we will review the Jeep & Pedestrian Safety Guidelines with students. The students will fill out a packet with that will different street signs ad draw them into their journal, which they will take it with them to the Town. Assignment 2 (During): Students will use their street sign packet that they brought with them to fill in any street they did not know and draw the sign and its meaning. The students will also complete a packet that will have questions on the video presentation they will see when they get to Town.

Assignment 3 (After) The students will have a class discussion over their experience at Safety Town and what could be improved about the trip. Students will write in their journal to compare their experience and the new facts they learned. The students will then create their own community as a classroom by each creating part of the community like the jail or a school.
