Welcome to 6th grade math. Together we are going to build confidence in our students abilities to not only apply math to everyday situations but also use mathematical reasoning to problem solve.

Ratios and proportional relationship Ex. 6 3 = 6/3 = 6 : 3 = 2 The number systems Ex. (3) = 3 Expressions and equations Ex. Subtract y from 5 as 5 y Geometry Ex. volume =length x width x height Statistics and probability

Technology we will be using in the classroom:

Ex. Mean=sum/quantity

Students will utilize various technologies to enhance learning and have fun with math. Students will also take an active role in instruction by sharing real-life situations outside of the classroom where they have used the math techniques we are covering and sharing them with the class. Parent involvement might include student classroom invoved having your student double a recipe, figure a tip, and instruction instruction calculate the amount of flooring needed for a remodel or the amount of interest on a loan. Be creative and have fun. Your student will teach what they have learned to the class.
