The newly acquired land of 120 Acres by Hindu

Temple of Georgia in Carrollton has already a place
to start the worship. 7 full time dedicated pundits/
Pujaris will be allotted for the Carrollton Hindu
Temple. Board members and the governing body of
the Hindu Temple of Georgia are taking necessary
actions to start the services of the temple very soon.
Most probably by September 2007, the Carrollton
Temple will start its services. Also a well renowned
Jain community leader is meeting with me on July
12th, to look for prospects of the biggest Jain Mandir
in Carrollton, GA.

The 108 Shivjis coming up in Norcross, GA, in the

new extension of the Hindu Temple of Georgia is
going to be the history in the Hindu Lineage and the
temple is expecting thousands of visitors and tourists
every day, after the inception of the great 108 Shiv
Murthis made of Panchaloka. The total weight of all
the 108 Shiva Murthis would be approximately 3.5
tones. The statues are made with the major mixture of
Gold, Silver and Copper.

As we every one know that, this is going to be the

1st and only Shiv Temple/Mandir in the Hindu
lineage with 108 Shivji(not dances of Shiva or Shiva
lingam).

 I n the past issues, we discussed what spirituality is. In this issue, we will discuss about the writings of some
“ Siddhars”. Siddhars are of special quality saints or monks. They are capable of doing the hardest tasks
by the simplest . There are eight siddhis and as they are the masters of all those eight siddhis, they are called
as Siddhars. The eight siddhis are,

Anima (shrinking) --
Power of becoming the size of an atom and entering into the life. As a poet, he is not contemptible (deserving to be treated with
smallest beings.
Mahima (infinity) --
Power of becoming mighty and co-extensive with the universe.
The power of increasing one’s size without limitation.
Lagima (lightness) --
Capacity to be in quite light though big in size.
Garima (weight) --
Capacity to weigh heavy, though in appearance small size.
Prapthi (fulfillment of desires) --
Capacity to enter all the worlds from Brahma Loga to the neigh- a good control over the mind, we can easily lead a very good and
bour world. It is the power of attaining everything desired.
Prakamyam (irresistible will) --
Power of disembodying and entering into other bodies (metamor-
phosis) and going to heaven and enjoying what everyone aspires
for, simply from where he stays.

l This Universe is filled with ever-
present lightness which has the nature of
expansion. This is called “Satva – Guna”
nature. This kind of nature has no foils or
burden.
l Pleasure has the tendency of
willingness and ambition. This comes out
with one combination of strong-desire.
This is called “Rajo – Guna”, which posses’
enimity.
l A lier when he tells a lie he
imagines no-other; one knows about it, but
due to the consequence of the lie, he will
face sorrow.
l Through the seed of a Banian Tree,
it grows as a shrub and plant. And finally
it comes up as a big tree. This Universe
is the seed for the whole galaxy. And it
has both good and bad qualities; known
and unknown things. Deattachment is the
weapon through which a person should cut
off this tree to get self realization.
l A person who has divinity of
the nature should possess gracefulness,
patience, stability, purity and gratitude.
The rightfulness with obedience takes a
person to enter into heaven. Disobedience
has the sinful nature, which will throw him
into the hell.
l One who never feels tire some,
One who doesn’t have the sensation that is
ego or ‘I’
One who has the strength and enthusiasm.
One who is unmoved either in success or
defeat.
That kind of person has the lightness of the
soul.
A person who knows the three times, past,
present and future; can conquer anything,
including this world.
l A person’s divinities can be seen
in his good tendency, kind words and in his
good behavior. This kind of person never enters into hell.
l Mind has nature of feminine. Knowledge has the nature

of the ‘self’ (ATMA) gets rid of fear of death. That person never
feels old aged and never observes the pain of death.
l Among all the wealth the All-Mighty’s grace is the true
wealth and the worldly rich things are not the wealth, they can be
seen or witnessed even among the people of bad and evil nature.
l God is the atom persists within an atom. God is oldest
among that had passed away. He has the form which can’t be
described by the words Among one word as slogan is “OM” A
person when he entirely surrenders to the Almighty crosses the
ocean of rebirths.

T here was a great lady scholar called “Avvai” who

bout 70 years back one incidence took place at New
York. A team of three friends Frederic, Tony and Jim
were good friends. They were studying in a college.
Since the accommodation in the college-hostel was limited,
they had to stay in a private chamber. They were the guys
as well as close, intimate and attached to each other.
One Sunday as it was a holiday, they desired to watch
a film show. The film was most entertaining. After
the show was over, they dinned in an inn and came
to their residing building.
When they reached the building it was around
10’ o clock in the night. There was electrical

They waited for more than one hour in the
floor side of the building. Their chamber
was in 48th floor of the building.

under control of one girl. My desires are different. When I
reach Paris, there should be one lover with bouquet to receive
me, preferably at the haulting station for me. I will take her to
all the beautiful places and finally I will be staying in a good
hotel and talk to her and observe the trends of love and dine
with her and dance. Of course a very comfortable and happy
day I can pass. Next morning the flight shall be to another
destination where too, I will be welcomed with another girl
whom I trust to be worthy of my love”
Tony interfered and asked “while you are of nature to have
more girls, how could you expect this to be worthy?” In a
confusied stage, Frederic replied,”I have made it clear that
I will not be entangled with any girls and become a slave

Tony asked with humour “Are you going to
gain weight again to double the present?”
It was an insult to Jim. He answered “Not
that but I feel all the natural products,
wheat, rice, pulses, fruits are the grants of
God – they are meant only for us no lion or
tigers compete with us to pick them from
trees. So he has granted them and it is our
duties we should have it”.
Frederic interfered and said “You are with
over imagination which should have little
limitation”. This comment was accepted by
Jim also and he added “You see Tony over
eating is foolishness and it will make you
lazy. So do good exercise and eat little.”
Now the door of their chamber arrived. It
was locked. Frederic asked “Who has the
keys?” The person who locked the door was
Jim. In hurry and haste Jim checked the key
in his pant and shirt. The key was not there.
Jim replied with great disappointment that
“We were dreaming and speaking of our
future with over whelming trend. What
happened now? Just with in half an hour,
to be inside our chamber is proving to be
an impossible one. The key is not in our
hand. Just like God dictates and we are
here to act”
Jim begged the other two friends to go
down the stairs and bring the key which was
kept near the foot steps. Jim was actually
a pitiable person since he was a faty guy.
Very honestly, the deemed agriculturist,
Tony was graceful to do the job of going
down stairs and bring back the key !

aha Rishi Naradha happened to come to earth where the
people were actually living a life of discomfort. Those who were
blessed with education (Saraswathi Kadaksha) and the others with
wealth and full of money (Lakshmi Kadaksha) and the other group with power and
strength ( Shakthi Kadaksha) were also facing all sort of worries. So, it was actually
an astonishment ‘why the human being should live without happiness?’ In Shiva Loga,
God Eswara was in meditation. The place was called by another name “Kailash”. The
divines and devotees were also with the eagerness to have the dharshan (God’s presence)
of Lord Shiva. Kailash is the northern mountain stretching from “Gangothri”, where the
River Ganges originates. The other river, “Brahma Putra” from the eastern region gets
the place of birth and flows in to western direction and bring fame to Bharat (India).
Mount Everest and cave of Amaranth, all are the places of Lord Shiva.What place
could be omitted? Nothing can be. God Eswara exists every where. He opened
his eyes after the meditation was over. All the divines, devotees and Nandi
Deva were worshipping Lord Eswara. ‘Narayana’… ‘Narayana – the slogan
of Maha Rishi Naradha added the curiosity there. Maha Rishi worshipped
God Eswara and with submission, he commenced his conversation.
“Oh! Lord Eswara, among the three great lords, all are honoured and
called as “Theen Moorthy”; the creation is done by Lord Brahma who
create the stars, worlds, seas and rivers; the feeder and protector Lord
Naryana Moorthy feeds food and make a life for all and being; the
destroyer, your Lordship, posses the charge of doing destruction of
lives after their term of permitted times. While all these things are
being properly happening, the people upon earth are suffering. I want
to know further that, Goddess Parvathi, your good self’s wife, gives
power and strength to the people; Goddess Saraswathi the wife of
Lord Brahma gives all arts and education; Goddess Mahalakshmi
wife of Lord Naryana Moorthi (Vishnu) gives all the wealth to
humanity. Even then, they are under trouble – your lord ship
Eswara should have the courtesy to do some Marga (remedial
– act) for the uplift of humans on the earth”
Lord Eswara felt justice is in the demands of Maha Rishi
Naradha. the Lord replied “Naradha! Your claim is a worthy
one; you can get answer for this! Wait for a little more time.
During Simha month (Avani), on the day of Avitta (Dhanista)
star, you have to go and meet “Sri Vigneshwar”, who will be
showing the proper way”.

 The month Avani and Star (Dhanista) came and Maha Rishi went to see ‘Sri
Vigneshwar’, who is elder son of Lord Eswara. Siddhi and Bukthi were the wives of
Lord Vigneswar. He had two sons. First son through Siddhi was called as Chitranga and the
next one through Bukthi named Buthranga. They were playing little away from Lord Vigneshwar.
This was the tune at which Maha Rishi Naradha entered the palace of Lord Vigneshwar. Naradha the
great Gnani and Rishi, was welcomed bylord Vigneshwar. They were exchanging the news of different
happening’s of Kailash and other worlds.
The children who were playing there. When they looked at the world, the people were worshipping the Gods.
Female members were actually tying a knotof red twine with flower, on the hands of male members. This was some
thing strange and attractive to Chitranga and Buthranga. They came closer to their father Lord Vigneshwar and wished
to have the red twine in form of ribbon. Then Maha Rishi Naradha enthusiastically told the children. “Dear children, it is
Raksha Bandan- a festival celebrated for the welfare and victories of the brothers. Every sister at home will tie this ‘Raksha’
which they saw in red colour with thing and flower” The explanation was heard by Chitranga and Buthranga and they ran
straight away to their mothers Siddhi and Bukthi. Children asked their mothers to get the “Raksha” for them immediately.
Siddhi told “My lovely children!!! This sacred Raksha should be actually tied only through the sisters, born along with you. But
at our home you are both boys, there is no girl. How could it be possible?”
The boys went on adamantly and asked their father to show them their sister. Lord Vigneshwar thought for a moment and felt that
wherever Maha Rishi Naradha happened to go, there would be certainly complications and mischiefs,
(‘Kalahapriya’ is the otherword for Naradha who likes these entire sort of internal mutiny and for his liking it is the day now.
He rules it. On the other day, when he went to Kailash, Lord Eswara told him to meet Sri Vigneshwar on this auspicious day.
So, he waited to see what was going on). Lord Vigneshwar called his two wives and boys. He soothed them and willfuly
by his “creative power”, created a female sister for the boys. Naradha Maha Rishi requested all the great Gods, Vishnu
(Narayan Moorthi), Brahma and Eswara to attend the naming ceremony. Gods and Goddesses Vishnu-Mahalakshmi,
Brahma-Saraswathi and the grand father and grand mother Eswara- Parvathi appeared and graced to name the child
as “Santoshi”. Santoshi gives the meaning of happiness. Santoshi, very happily tied the Rakshas to her brothers’
Chitranga and Buthranga happiness is comfort with wealth. Those who worship “Goddess Santoshi”can get all the
wealth and live happily. The mantra (sacred prayer) ‘Jai Santoshima’ will give, every body the victories and
happiness.

hat a great way to spend a meaningful weekend with
the family and friends who are making a difference in
this world for a better cause!!! The Hindu Temple of
Georgia is organizing monthly community night in the temple’s
grand auditorium to get together, share their thoughts and ideas,
show their talents, and have fun as one community in spite of
their multiple cultural backgrounds. Every one is welcome to
participate and experience this great event.
The 5th community night held on June 10, 2007 was a grand
evening for the community. It was filled with lot of love, fun
and wisdom.
The evening began with an arti for Lord Siva and Devi Parvati,
followed by a prayer sung by Kumari Shruthi Dontu. After
receiving the blessings from the Lord, the community night
started with the Open Discussion on “Importance of Parents -
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Celebrations in US and around

the World”. The panel members were Sri Selvam Siddhar
“Swamiji”, Mr. Ashok (representing youth), Mr. Ganesh Iyer,
Thiru Nagarathinam (Ganesh Iyer’s father), and Srimathi
Sumangali (aka Thirumathi Abayambal). Mr. Neelamegam
Subramanian introduced the topic of discussion in the beginning
followed by the panelist’s interest speeches with interactive
audience participation.
The key points of discussion included the following:
n From Indian ancient civilization, we grew up with
the saying “Matha, Pitha, Guru, Deivam” signifying the first
introduction to Mother, then Father, continue learning through
Guru, and through Guru’s teaching realizing God through
spiritual enlightenment.
n Mother’s Day started in Ireland and Britain in the 16th
Century.
n The first Mother’s Day in US was celebrated in Grafton,
West Virginia, on May 10, 1908.

n In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared the first

national Mother’s Day.
n Different countries in the world celebrate Mother’s Day
on various days of the year because the day has a number of
different origins.
n Sonora Dodd, daughter of a civil war veteran, William
Smart, celebrated the first Father’s Day in Spokane, Washington
on the 19th June, 1910.
n President Calvin Coolidge (1924) supported the idea
of a national Father’s Day. President Lyndon Johnson signed a
presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as
Father’s Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which
finally made it permanent in 1972.
n Thirumathi Sumangali, a well known Tamil writer (with
publications to be found in every Tamilnadu Library, and some of
her works used even for PhD program) spoke very eloquently in
Tamil and shared some of her sad experiences in Senior Citizens
Homes in India highlighting how some of the people have lost the
importance of parents and forgotten the sacrifices made by them
in their upbringing. She shared it to reinforce the duties of the
children towards their parents.
n Two Thirukkurals were recited to further delineate the
father’s duties and in return the son’s duties.
n In summary, the learning starts from mother, then
through father before the teachers in the school. Loving, caring,
sharing, understanding, trust, discipline, the principles of good
citizenship, the importance of learning and acquiring skills to
serve - learning all of these, start from parents. Honouring and
respecting the parents is a foremost duty of any human being

included participation by couples. Both hands were tied by a
string weaved with the string of the spouse. The object of the
game was to free each other without untying the strings. This
game was well orchestrated by Thirumathi Sankari and Thiru

The Legend Of a

In the city of Benaras,

religious capital of India, a painting competition was
announced to be conducted on 7th day of the month of miduna
for the boys and girls of age group 8 to 12 years. The competitors
will be given three hours to expose their skills and the winner
will be awarded with cash prize of One Thousand Rupees. The
subject for the painting was to be announced at the hour of
competition.
This was advertised in all newspapers. This news reached a huge
number of people in and around Benaras. This holy city rests
on the bank of River “Ganges”. The long waited day brought
several hundreds of painters together and they were provided
with all necessary things like drawing boards, paints and
brushes.
The title was announced just few minutes
before the commencement of
competition, as “A woman
fruit seller with basket
of fruits and a stick”.
All the participants
were busy running their
imagination; the bell rang
to start the competition. The
boys and girls were busy in
sketching the drawings.
It was an interesting hour of
eagerness. The time of three hours
was passing little by little. The young
artists were doing their job with great
talent.
The painting took place in three stages.
The first one was primer quoting on rexin/
canvas. Then applying the sketch to the
reality started. The wet paint had a reasonable time to get dry.
All these matters were going on in order. The final touches for
the true resemblance were done with all their skills. After the
allotted time of three hours was over, the final bell rang.
Seven judges had the collective responsibility to select and
finalize the prize winner. The stages of comparisons, rejections
and selections were with full swing. The participants were
anxiously awaiting the results by gathering outside the main
hall.
Judges inspected each and furially selected all, two of the
paintings. With both paintings on par with each other in
various aspects, it was becoming tough for the judges to
arrive at a decision on a final winner. One of the judges
suggested that, since the two paintings look equally
good under the roof, they should be tested outside the
auditorium under open sunlight.
The two paintings were brought outside and
kept in an open yard. As time was passing, a
bird which happened to fly over flew closer
to the two paintings. The fruits on one of
the paintings looked so real, that the bird
started biting the painting and made a hole
on the fruit portion.
The Judges watched everything
attentively and brought the paintings
back to the auditorium. They
collectively decided that the
painting with the bird’s biting
was the best painting of all. All
the competitors were welcomed back to
the auditorium. The judges had announced their
decision. The boy who painted the picture was called

to the platform and the award of thousand rupees was handed
over to him.
Now, a boy of age eleven came to the stage and objected the
decision of the seven judges and pleaded to give him a chance to
submit his opinions.
One of the judges asked him “Who are you to object our
decision?”.
The boy told the furious judges in a polite manner “Sir, I am the
person who submitted the other picture which you have rejected
from awarding the prize”.
Judge laughed and told “You saw how the bird mistook the fruits
on the other painting as real fruits and tried to pierce it”.
“Yes my learned judges, thank you for your explanation on the
real fruit which means the mark was given to the reality”.
“Of course in the same sense only, we granted the prize to other
boy”, commented the judges.
“Sorry to interfere sir, but could you please repeat the title you
have allotted for this competition?”, the 11-year old boy asked.
“A woman fruit seller with basket of fruits and a stick”, one of the
judges instantly replied.
“This title mainly has three objects - the woman, fruits in a basket,
and a stick”, confirmed the boy.
Saying “yes, yes”, the judge appreciated the boy for his good
understanding. As the boy continued,”the title has three important
objects, each carrying equal weight. While, I aimed to score well
in all three objects, your learned team of scholars have granted
prize depending entirely on one subject, the fruit! What about the
woman and the stick?”
This claim of the boy shocked all of them including the audience
who were hearing this argument.
Contrary to the sequence, one of the seven judges commented “a
sensible argument to be considered. What more do you want to
tell, my dear boy?”
“Sir I am confident and sure my painting is closer to the reality”
continued the boy, “in my painting the woman with a stick
appeared so real that the bird realized, it would get a beating with
the stick if it came closer.” The arguing judge claimed to prove
the boy’s sense of reality.
The boy screenedthe portion of the woman and the stick on the
painting with a white cloth, and kept the painting at the same
place when it was tested.
After about 15 minutes, some birds flew over the area. Seeing the
painting, they flew near the painting and started piercing the fruits.
While it looked strange and miraculous, the boy’s confidenin in
his art and proper concentration was praised by all the judges.
While, the prize money has since been spent, the fame is still
secured by this boy. The boy is none other than Ravi Varma – the
great
artist of India. His paintings in all daninated blaces status and
kingdoms of India during the British rule in India.
The people called this artist, Raja Ravi Varma. He was a king by

Description of Jnani:
Lord Krishna himself Explain the Importance of Atma-
Jnan to Arjuna in Ch-2 Vers. 46. Lord Krishna says “To the
Atma-Jnani who has known the self (Pure soul) Vedas are of
so much use, as a reservoir of water is when there is flood
everywhere.
Replying Arjuna’s query of how to distinguish a jnani amidst
others, Lord Krishna says “ Jnani is satisfied in the Self (
Atma), he is not shaken by misery or elated by prosperity. He
does not hanker after pleasure, is free from attachment, fear
and anger and is not affected by any circumstances. Such
a person of true wisdom is exceedingly dear to me I
consider Jnani as my own self, he is established in me Alone
(Atma, inner self) as the supreme. Such a Jnani is very hard
to find.”
Swami Vivekanada, also refers to the Jnani as one who
accepts himself only as a Pure Soul ( Atma) and reject the
notion of himself as the body and mind.
Swami Chinmayanada in his lectures on Holy Geeta , says
Jnani is the one who has identified himself with God.
Swami Prabhupad in his commentary on Holy Geeta , says
Krishna and Jnani are one. ( Ch-7 Vers 18)
Lord Krishna in Geeta says, “ Atma (Self, He) is superior to
sense, body, mind and intellect thus know you’re your own
self (Atma) (Geeta , Ch-3 Vers-42-43). He further says “ I am
in all living creatures”, what is there which common in all
living creature ? Atma is the only thing is common in all living
creatures. Hence Atma itself is God ( Parmatma). ( Geeta
Ch.-15, Vers-15). That is why Atma-Jnan is so important to
awaken the hidden Parmatma within us. And enlighten us
on the Very nature of Our Self.
How do I meet Jnani? How do I find him ?
Jnani will never tell that he is an Enlightened Soul---he is
beyond words, attachments, likes, dislikes and is egoless. It
is always through a Nimmitha that the world comes to know
of the jnani. Arjuna was the Nimmittha for us to know Lord
Krishna as the jnani. Lord Krishna had 100 Yadava and 5
Pandawas as his cousin brothers but no one could recognize
him as Jnani until, Arjuna became depressed, surrendered his
ego to Him and says I don’t know anything, please help me.
Such a Jnani was there in recent past, His name was A. M.
Patel, He experienced the Enlightened Sate---Atma –Jnan in
a natural, ordinary setting at the Surat Railway station in
1958 At that moment, he could see how the entire cosmos
functions, and at the same time see within himself the Pure
Soul --the Light within , totally separate from the body. The
experience continued and he saw the same light in all the
living creatures The enlightened Pure Soul(Shud Atma) in
A. M. Patel is called “ Dada Bhagvan”, The same Pure Soul
( Dada Bhagvan ) is in all living creatures. He was above all
attachments after the Gnyan experience and what was left was
his functional ego and the karmas that had to be discharged
in the remaining years of his life. For 4 years he did not
tell anyone that he had such an experience and was privy to

this Jewel of Gynan.. One of his relatives Chandrakant Patel,
noticed a spiritual change in A. M. Patel and through his
frequent visits and Satsang (one to one) with Dada Bhagwan
came to know Dada.s depth of knowledge and his True Dasha
(State Of Being) . Chandrakanth finally surrendered his ego
at Dadas feet and said “ Give me Gynan, you are a jnani”.
Since then gradually during the course of time, people came
to know of Dada and many from Gujarat and other places
came to Dada to be initiated in Atma Gynan. Dada first came
to the US in 1982 and four times in the successive years before
he. took Maha-Samadhi in Jan. 1988. in Vadodara, India.
After his Maha-Samadhi, jnani Purush Kanubhai Patel
whom. Dada gave Gynan in 1963 and told h im that after me
you will be giving Gynan and initiating the seekers of Atma
Gynan. Shri Kanu Dada is now the living jnani Purush.
Dada Bhagwan used to say every one speaks my language
but Chadrakantbhai and Kanubhai speak their own spiritual
language and I also listen to them. They are highly developed
souls.
Kanu Dada as he is currently known comes on a spiritual tour
to USA, , U.K. and Germany. He always travels extensively
all over India to initiate seekers of Atma Gynan and to conduct
Satsang . .
What Jnani can do?
Jnani can take away the ego, because he is in the egoless
state. Once the ego is gone, the receiver of the Gynan will
be aware when he is doing his routine chores that in Truth
he is the Non-Doer. This initiation and awareness within
him, gradually blossoms and over time, it gets firm inside
together with the Right belief that in Reality He or She is the
Pure Self Illuminating light, knower and perceiver only and
not the doer. At the same time he also starts to see the Pure
Soul in everyone around him including all living creatures,
Seeing the Pure Self in all , naturally leads to not looking at
others faults and be judgemental. All this working together,
with total surrender of the ego and mind , speech and body to
the feet of the jnani(internally)., the currect understanding of
how the soul journeys towards its ultimate destination, how
to avoid pitfalls on the way which is given in the Satsangs
(the Satsangs also teaches how to conduct our day to day
life—Shudh Vyavahar) releases one from the accumulation
of new karmas in this life (since the doership is renounced
internally). Whatever Karma were there before Gynan has
to be lived out in a few more births and after that the soul is
liberated once and and for all ---Moksha. . There is NO return
if one truly understands and lives according to the teachings
of the jnani Purush.
jnani breaks the wrong belief that I am so and so, Mr, Mrs.
Miss so and so and he sets up within us (internally the Right
Belief which is “I am the Pure Soul “ which in reality is the
true , infinite Happiness, infinitely Bliss (Sat Chit Anand).
The essence of the Isha Upanishad is along the lines that God
Pervades everything and therefore whatsoever happens is for
the common good only in the true sense. When one recognizes
this subtle and deep truth hidden even amidst all the ups and
downs in ones
life, the inner
strength and the
correct vision
dawns and starts
functioning
internally even
without our
knowing so in
our life. Lord
Krishna broke
Arjuna’s wrong
belief that I am Arjuna and set up the right belief in its place
that I am the Pure Soul. That is in short the Geeta Gynan.
What is Moksha ?
Moksha is not a destination to reach as is commonly believed.
It is the awakening and dawning of our true identity which
culminates in total freedom from all types of bondage The
bondage which we accumulate and perpetuate in our life with
our ego results in the repeated birth and death of the physical
body to dispense the Karmas(papas and punyas).that we have
brought upon ourselves in previous births. Paradoxically
while we dispense our past karmas, we also accumulate new
karmas due to our wrong belief that we are the doer and our
mind, intellect and ego endorse all our actions as “ours”
which bears the consequence of repeated births. Atma
Gynan imparts that Knowledge and Right Belief that leads
to freedom from our actions even in this very life. It changes
our understanding completely and that knowledge becomes
the guiding light for the remainder of this life and the lives
to come.
Jnani is one who has reached the level of Atman and who
is able to see God in every living creature Jnani is one who
is above, pleasure and pain, like and dislike, happiness and
sorrow.
He will explain what is God, what is Karma, how does this
world works, how to get absolute freedom from all Karmic
Bondage.etc
Is there any rule or any requirement for having Atman gynan?
No there are no rules at all, Jnani never tells do this or that or
don’t do that. He never tells, give up this and accept that, He
never tells anyone to give up his or her religious belief.
Atma gynan is a Vision, the vision Arjuna got from Krishna.
The Only requirement is readiness to submit your ego and the
firm conviction that I don’t know anything ( like Arjuna said to
Krishna “ I don’t know anything” )

E very living human being should understand and be aware of

True Self, Buddhi, Atma, Soul and Wisdom. When a person
is alive, it is known that the life exists in his/her body. The life
here is understandable as a living body. If the living is not doing
its action, it is a ‘lying’ body which is same as dead body. The
destiny of any birth is death. The life, atma and soul represent
the spirit which rules the body for living. In a life, one can live
either good or bad. If he is good, the person is called good atma,
if he is bad then bad atma.
Spirit also can be either a good spirit or evil spirit. Somebody
or something should ‘train’ this atma or life or soul to be good
for ever? Agree? If the practice is done properly, the bad can
be totally avoided. It’s the duties of elders in the family to
give appropriate teaching to the children who will gain this
knowledge and be aware of fixing their mind for a proper life
with norms of justice.
As these are related to one’s soul, I would take the real
experiences and observations for research, which were guiding
the Saint Ramana, to attain the wisdom. In the life of famous
Saint Ramana, an incidence took place. Learned disciples of
Saint Ramana have explained that his real name was Venkata
Raman who at the age of 16, his eagerness and the curiosity
drove him to find the answer for the Self-inquiry “Who am I?”.
Every day uncountable birth occurs and uncountable deaths
occur in this world. What is the purpose and who initiates or
controls this chain of occurrences and “Who am I?” was his self
doubt which started as glorious achievement of immortality.
Now, one more phrase ‘immortality’ also adds up in our bundle
of titles already in the “mind file”. Let us see what actually
happened to Saint Ramana at his age of 16.
The Great Enlightenment
“It was about six weeks before I left Madurai for good, in the
middle of the year 1896, that the great change in my life took
place” said Sri Ramana Maharshi, when asked by devotees
as to how he was transformed, “It was so sudden. One day
I sat up alone on the first floor of my uncle’s house. I was in
my usual good health. But a sudden and unmistakable fear of
death seized me. I felt I was going to die and at once started
about thinking as to what I should do. I did not care to consult
anyone, be he a doctor, elder or friend. I felt I had to solve the
problem myself then and there. The shock of the fear of death
made me at once introspective or ‘introverted’. I said to myself
mentally, ‘Now that death is come, what does it mean? Who is
it that is dying? This body dies’.
I at once dramatized the situation. I extended my limbs and
held them rigid as though rigor mortis had set in. I imitated a
corpse to lend an air of reality to my further investigation. I held
my breath and kept my mouth closed, pressing the lips tightly
together, so that no sound could escape. ‘Well then’ I said to
myself, ‘this body is dead. It will be carried to the crematory
and there burnt and reduced to ashes. But with the death of my
body, am I dead? Is the body I? This body is silent and inert.
But I am still aware of the full force of my personality and even
of the sound of I within myself as apart from the body. The
material body dies, but the Spirit transcending it cannot be
touched by death. I am therefore the deathless Spirit’.
All this was not a feat of intellectual gymnastics, but came as
a flash before me vividly as living Truth, which I perceived
immediately, without any argument almost. I was something
very real; the only real thing in that state, and all the conscious
activity that was connected with my body was centered on
that. The I or myself was holding the focus of attention with
a powerful fascination. Fear of death vanished at once and for
ever. The absorption in the Self has continued from that moment
right up to now”.
After this incident, there was a complete change in the young
sage’s life. The things that he had valued earlier now lost their
value. He reached Thiruvannamalai, then called as Arunachala,
the place considered as the dwelling place of Lord Shiva (Hindu
deity and the Almighty). Saint Ramana was troubled by little
boys who threw stones at him as he sat in meditation. He shifted
himself to obscure corners and even to an underground place
known as Patala-lingam and continued his meditation. His aim
to get wisdom --deepened. After 30 years of his Mouna Vratha
(meditation of silence), became Gnani. He had thousands and
thousands of followers. The teachings were most notable,
attractive and appreciable to the people all over the world.

Interaction With stars on earth

AR Rahman’s career has flourished over the past twenty years. He has sold over one
hundred million records world-wide and over two hundred million cassettes. His work
includes film scores, soundtracks, theatre, world music and instrumentals. Along side
film composing he made an album “Vande Mataram” (1996) singing the title song
on the album. Rahman teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber to compose the music
for “Bombay Dreams” (2002). Some of his award winning compositions include:
“Lagaan”, “Kannathil Muthamittal”, “Bombay”, “Dil Se” “Roja”, “Taal” and “Rang De
Basanti” On June 17th, 2007 AR Rahman and his musicians gave a remarkable and an
outstanding live performance in Washington DC. Here he swept over 8,000 attendees
off their feet. This concert’s promoter was Vijay Taneja of Financial Mortgage Inc.
and Re/Max Summit. He condluded the concert with the audience’s standing ovation
during his “Vande Mataram”. I, Mandira Nandani Mehra, sat down with the extremely
humble AR Rahman Ji, and had the following interview.

Mandira Nandani (MN) - AR Rahman ji congratulations on a superb concert. I won’t

praise you any further because anything I say would cheapen the experience of your
concert. What or who do you owe your success to?
AR Rahman (AR) - I owe my success to God, the love of my family and my fans.
Because without love you can’t do anything- and that’s the motivation behind me.

MN - You’re an icon and idol internationally. You inspire millions globally. Who your
inspiration?
AR - All good people are inspiration to me, because you need infinite things because
you are living a mortal life and you need good nature and art and stuff like that (he
smiled).

MN - I know this is an unfair question- you have 5 fingers you can’t choose your
favorite, similarly, you have many songs and projects- do you have any favorities or
specials that touch your heart?
AR - I have many, it depends. Last year it was “Luka Chupi” with Tabu sang by Lata
Mangeshwar ji, and this year it was “Tere Bina” where all the songs are dedicated to
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

MN - One of your first gigs was a coffee jingle. From coffee jingles to your success
now, would you go back and change any of your steps along the way?
AR - I wouldn’t I think each step was difficult for me, but I try my best to perfect
it. Some of them are successful and some of them are not. It’s important to have an
intention behind your life and what you
are. That comes from within, if you have
that intention you can go on with the
journey of your life.

MN – Many artists I spoke with today

owe their success to you. You have
brought up many artists and contributed
to their success as well as the fact you
have given them their first break. They
revere you- and listen to you daily. Who
do you or listen to on your cd player?

on being able to download music on the internet?
AR - The time has come that we can all judge how we are and
we should support each other. People are not going to police you
and what you are going to do on the net. We’re all grown ups,
we all have our own thoughts. What goes around, comes around.
What you give is what you get- You give love then you get love.
If you download someone’s hard earned stuff then that should
be denied.

MN - The last concert was titled the “unity of light”. Many of

your songs deal with love: a romantic love, love for a child, love
gained, love lost and the sorrows and happiness that comes with
it. How do you, AR ji, define love?
AR - It’s a very good and big question with a very big answer.
For me the love for God comes first, he comes first, he created
all of us he created love and since I am of Sufi path that is more
important and of course because of that, he has commended us
to love each other then comes secondary love and then your life
is peaceful or you suffer from love too much haha! (he smiles)

MN - You’re an international success and an icon figure- I can

his ministers and warriors were raising up from their positions
and greeted him with regards. He went and sat on the throne. He
called his minister, and wanted him to make an another attempt
to attack the Brindavan the palace and the land of Nandagoba.
Last time when, Boothana made her attempt to kill the infant
child Krishna met with great failure.Boothana the great and
valiant friend of him was destroyed by infant Krishna while
sucking the milk from the breasts of boothana, the infant Krishna
sucked all the strength and the life of her. This time, the planning
was different, the considerable time also passed; the infant
Krishna grown up as a small boy.So,it was a plan to destroy

the boy through other means.Kamsa made up his mind to call “
Sakadasura” who was also an uncomparable fighter. The thought
of his calling by his giantic power, brought ‘Sakadasura’infront
of him. ‘Sakadasura’was pleased to meet ‘Kamsa’and asked
the purpose for which he was called.kamsa explained about a
little boy dwelling in Brindavan and his extraordinary power
killed ‘Boothana’and so, with great power and trick, this time,
the target to attack the boy should be plann-ed. “Sakadasura”
laughed with astonishment and asked “after all a little boy that
too, with out knowing the usage of weapon or supersticious power
it could never be possible to reattack us. king kamsa ordered
him to start for Brindavan and destroy the little boy Krishna to
pieces “sakadasura”vanished as a whirl wind and appeared as
a big giant at the territory of Nandagoba. Krishna was playing

away. The magnanimous and mighty “Sakadasura” turned
immediately as a big wheel of a charriot which came down with
full speed. All the stones, rocks, and trees were smashed into
pieces. The speed was such and it was nearing the little Krishna.
By the quick moments Krishna under- stood the situation and
sending away the other boys for safer distance, he raised his right
leg up. It grew and grew as bigger before the wheel. The giant in
such a gigantic power and force came in form of wheel dashed
with the foot of Krishna who was mightier than the enemy
and his divine power of strength acted to give end to the giant.
The wheel was powdered by the force raised by Krishna. After
a while, the corpse of “Sakadasura was “found scattered into
pieces on the ground and there was no charriot wheel at all. The
dust raising land and the abnormal sounds like thunders, when
“Sakadasura” came there turned as a place of calm ground of palace and asked her friends to do the rituals and pooja, so that
playing. The mother Yasotha and all the village people gathered her child could recover from any attack and shock. She was just
there. She ran closer to Krishna with great fear as she thought a human mother; it was quite natural she did, her caressing and

Shooting Stars
It’
s a good practice to look at the sky during the moonless by step. Then only, the safe-landings are possible. All we have to

meteors which are often seen in the night sky. It is visible just one
or two seconds as it is a traveling star with great speed. Then, it

These meteors contain iron and few other metals. The floating
meteors when happen to cross or enter the zone of the outer space
of earth, they are burnt automatically. This fire incidence, when
the meteor destroyed sparks as bright flares. This is called as
Shooting Stars.
There are three types of astronomical names. They are Meteors,
Meteorites, and Meteoroids. On 20th June 1996, a village
in Rajasthan, India happened to secure a meteor weighing
20KiloGrams. It was a belief that the object could have come from
orbits of Mars. In the belt of asteroids there are lots of rocky objects
which can not be seen through naked eyes. About two hundred
years back an object with the largest size of 900 Kilometers in
diameter was noticed and then named as “Ceres.” About sixteen
years back, a smallest one, of size nine meters was also found.
With all the protection by nature, the earth is circling round
the Sun. Every day many happenings are occurring in the sky.
The Meteoroids are of major, iron contents, which come into
the orbit belt of Earth and create wonders. Just imagine if they
are free to give destruction to homes and towns on earth; what
would become of us? The almighty has given the “Kavasha” the
protection to earth which has its speed, gravitational region, and
the atmospherc zone which will have the potentiality to resist such
entrances and save the earth.
Rare incidences are registered all around the world about the
falling of Meteors on earth. That gives the caution “any thing could
happen”. About 12 years back, the planet Jupiter was attacked by a
big Meteor from a comet, which was coming closer to Jupiter and
entered the surface of Jupiter, this clash made damage for more
than thousand miles. The Astronomers from the earth watched
the incidence and registered the success of their fore-telling.
The matter of reference to tell these incidences under the title
Shooting Stars does not connect to any war between stars or any
collision between worlds. The earth has got it’s protectional region
which our forefathers named as “Kavasha.” Even the satellite
voyage and returning from space stations, the crafts are not
reaching the earth straight away. They have to make the influence
with the region of “Kavasha” by circling around the earth step

of bakthi – resolute faith, sincerity
and steadfastness – reigned supreme.
Lord Krishna reiterated these tenets
in Bhagavad-Gita. (Ch:12-Bakthi
Yogam)
Sakthi is energy in simpler terms
and power in a greater term. Matter
without energy is of little use.
Scriptures describe the status of matter
as “Chethana and achethana”,. Sivam
(the Supreme matter) combined with
Sakthi (the supreme power) pervades
the world. One of the six forms of
worship enunciated by the Aryans
was Saktham- Worship of the Divine
in feminine form.
- An Overview
For any movement, energy is required. The supreme Sakthi

– Icha Sakthi, Kriya Sakthi and Gnana Sakthi. Icha Sakthi is

kind of bakthi is of varying degree. In mathru bakthi, there is
a mixture of affection and endearment. In Pithru bakthi, the
mixture of entitlement and efficacy is more pronounced. In Guru
bakthi, the mixture of reverence and abdication is keenly felt.
And in Divine bakthi, all these and much more form the mixture
with devotion!
Divine bakthi should be pure and unadulterated. Rituals alone
do not form bakthi. They are only tools in the process. Prayer is
a means to reach the stage of bakthi. Faith and sincerity are the
essentials of prayer. A perfect understanding and concentration in
what we do form the basics of proper prayer. Repetitive sincere
prayers are borne out of bakthi on one hand and on the other hand
go towards increasing the level of bakthi in one’s self.. You can
pray and worship the Divine in any form. The great Nayanmars
and Alwars expressed their bakthi in different formats and also
by singing the praise of the Lord in various ways. The bakthi
of various saints was of different type. Meera Bai and Andal
had the ardent bakthi and longed to be in unison with the Lord.
The rustic hunter, Kannappa Nayanar, adored the Lingam as a
living being and offered his eyes, one after the other, when he
found trace of blood on the face of the Lingam. For Nandanar,
the very sight of the temple tower of Chidambaram evoked great
ecstasy before entering into the temple. For Arjuna the Lord was
a relative, driver, friend, philosopher and guide. For Bhadrachal
Ramadas’ bakthiful lamentations, Lord Rama presented himself
before the Sultan. Thyagaraja’s soulful musical renderings on
Lord Rama reverberate among the hills and dales of South India.

worshipped both with awe and love! There are eighteen sakthi
peetas – where the power of Sakthi is with added concentration
– spread over in a few states in India, each with its own legend,.
Each one has distinctive features and a hoary past. There is not a
single village in India without a temple of Devi.
Siddhi in simple terms is achievement and in broader terms
attainment of perfection or the ultimate. Siddhi is the pinnacle
reached by unadulterated Bakthi and acquisition of Sakthi.
Without bakthi and sakthi, Siddhi cannot be perceived. Practicing
an ardent life with devotion and strict adherence to the norms,
regulations and mantras set out in the Atharva Veda to reach the
stage of Siddhi, one becomes a Siddha Purusha or Siddha.
There are eight types of Siddhis called “Ashta Ma Siddhis”.
They are Anima, Mahima, Lahima, Karima, Porpthi, Vasithvam,
prakathmiyam and Ishathvam.
The Siddhas who practice different pursuits with specialization
can perform unimaginable acts like walking on the river water,
get buried in earth for a number of days, raising above the ground
level with movement of limbs, converting things to metals,
getting into others’ body (Jala Sthambanam, Bhoo Sthambanam,
Vayu Sthambanam, Rasa Vadam, Para Kaya Pravesam) talking
to birds and beasts, talking to the dead etc. Another branch of
siddha activity is the siddha system of medicine specifying
certain natural ways of life and medicines made of simple herbal
ingredients of effective cure of all ailments, which is acclaimed
as one of the best systems all over the world. There are only a
few siddhas who practice techniques relevant to the present day
situations of the family life, influence of bad spirits in one’s life,
different types of doshams or evil influence of planets, black
magic mental agony and other such problems.
In olden days there were several Rishis (sages) who became
Siddhas. Of these eighteen Siddhas (“Pathinenn Siddhars”)
were notable for different kinds of siddha activities. Some
were prominent like Kapila, Bhogar and Akasthiyar. Mention
of Siddha is made even in Bhagavat-Gita and the Lord says
“I am Kapila among Siddhas” (Ch: 10-26. Vibuthi yogam).
Some Siddhas had setup separate “Peetams” (foundations) to
perpetuate the lineage.
Contrary to public belief, a siddha is not one who renounced the
world (Sanyasi) but one who leads a normal life in the world,
utilizing his knowledge and powers to alleviate the sufferings
of the people to the extent possible. He is a living being, your
next door neighbour. He is a person with ordinary looks, but of
course, one with some extraordinary abilities!

making the world a better place to live!

fter the birth of a child in the world, the habits
and behaviors are inculcated in them gradually.
The duty of the mother is most important in
bringing up the child. The entire future depends
upon molding of the child in the early child
hood. The nature permits the change of seasons
from child hood to a stage of grown up boy or girl hood and then
comes the youthful personality.
This particular stage is going to be acknowledged as adult. The
mind and activities at this age will be with fast tendencies and
quick decisions. The life is there to live up to old age of 70,
80. The modern fashions, customs, and opportunities are drawn
towards attractions.
The variations between affectionate and passionate could not
be observed by the youngsters. Fashions and fascinations are
capturing the minds of youths. Prone to passion is passionate.
Affection, in a good subject with good will in its purity is love.
This one can not get in strange occasions or events. One has to
know where to apply what and when and how.
The prime youth are like spring time scholars. The age and the
circumstances will be attracting them for fun activities and
searching for a friend of other sex. The variation of these unknown
destinations of desires dominates their mind. In this search, they
may go through lot of failures which may lead them to “the failure
to be stable”.
Lack of Self control causes the issues. They should realize the
principles and aims which may equalize and help them to reach to
their expectations. The outwardly appearances for the suitability
is not necessary. What is the thirst of one? Will it be to the norms
of long standing lives? One should also check the adjustments and
flexibilities to move with, for their better future ahead. Before they
realize the hasty decisions and speedy movements lead to a state of

dissatisfaction. Life is not chained with tests as it is bound to
settle with happiness. Testing every time with out an aim will
ruin the life of one. Good under standing and the observations
of behaviors are most important to have a friend either of same
sex or of other. Passion is lesser to the rank of love.
Some times the friend ship with other sex proves fertile and
leads to the marriage and they continue happy living. It’s usually
lesser than 8 out of 100 people. Most of the relationships end
up as failure. So, the real love is real far away. No one should
fall as victims and lose their future. In true life it is rare to get
success as intellectual friendship is graded first.
In the divine land a most beautiful pair, Manmatha and Rathi
were determined as the best couple. Manmatha, the epics call
him as “Cupid” (God of love), a personality of a masculine
finest beauty. ‘Rathi, is also compared as the top most among
women. They were living very happily. Their divine powers
permitted here zto go to any place, mountains, rivers and skies.
Manmatha was having a Sugar cane bow and lotus as arrow.
The epics describe the bow with great meanings.
Sugar Cane Bow: The people in all over the world and the
divines in divine land are eager to have the sweetness. The plant
sugar-cane gives the best form of sweetness. It is explained that
the sugar cane is bottom side of the plant will be with more
sweetness.
The flower of sugar cane comes from top side of the plant. From
far, it looks like a huge gathering of furs and silky feathers and
its more than 2 feet tall. You can observe some tints like rainbow
too. Altogether it is a very pleasant and a beautiful show.
In this explanation, what are the essentialities to understand?
Sugar cane is a thick stem with full of juice. The top side of
sugar cane is not used as it’s not sweet. Manmatha and Rathi
are like this juice with full happiness. They appear near sea and
dance on the sand. As ‘Manmatha’ encircle his hands around the
waist of ‘Rathi’, the dance continues on rivers, mountains and
gardens. They find happiness, joy and enjoyment everywhere.
Why lotus flower is used for an arrow? While the masculine
nature is that of sugar cane, the feminine nature is that of flower.
Women yields to the need of a man and very flexible and curve
to the expectation of the husband. Lotus is very beautiful with
full of attraction. The stem (Core) of the Lotus comes from the
bottom of a pond or lake. It’s hollow in the middle. The stem
projects above the level of water to get the oxygen needed for
survival. The women, by nature very soft, begin to live with
man, like an oxygen supplier. Such relations are must for the
mankind.
Manmatha was doing his duties for his guru “Sukhra Acharya”.
The lives on earth, the creations, reptiles, fishes, animals and
human being were all multiplied only on the orders of Sukhra
Acharya. He was the authority for love and relations and the
cause for child birth. He even controlled the creation of flowers
and plants.
Sukra Acharya is a ruling deity of the planet Venus. He creates
desires, eagerness and passion. So, the real match with ‘Rathi”
is a boon to Manmatha. It’s always said that any couple should

 Be like “Rathi and Manmatha”, made for each other.
One day, when they were playing in garden, the game of hide and
seek, Rathi with her supremacy vanished in clouds towards north.
Manmatha began to search her and went up to Kailash. He was very
tired and upset while he saw Lord Shiva in meditation. Manmatha
asked himself why Lord Shiva should meditate without spending
time with Umadevi (Lord Shiva’s wife) and aimed a lotus flower
arrow, which fell on the head of Lord Shiva. HE was disturbed from
his sacred doings of meditation and opened his third eye which was
meant for the flames of fire for destruction.
The pitiable ‘Manmatha’ was destroyed to ashes. The fun game gave
a fate of destruction for Manmatha. Rathi, after a long while, could
not see her husband but by her soul power she under stood what had
happened. She went to Kailash and fell on the feet of Lord Shiva.
She cried as she lost her husband and her life of everlasting love.
Realizing what her husband had done, she begged the Lord.
“Oh Lord Chandra Sekara, your Lord ship are the kindest of all the
kindest. Your Lord ship has given asylum to Shree Chandra up on
your head! My humble husband unknowingly has done this sin. Oh
Lord! Grace me to live with my husband.” Her plea was accepted by
the Lord and granted the life to Manmatha who fell at the feet of Lord
Shiva. Thus the lost life of Rathi and Manmatha continues still.

here are many islands in the Pacific Ocean. One among
them is “Hawaii”, the most beautiful and exotic tropical
island on earth. In each of the islands, there was a ruler or
leader who used to govern that Island.
Hawaii had two rulers. One is a male whose name was ‘Kavo’,
the elder brother and the other ruler was ‘Kela’, sister of Kavo.
Since the Island was surrounded by the vast sea, all the people
living there were well experienced in swimming.
They make their own “Surf – Board” which was helpful to go into
the deep ocean. The edges of the “Surf-Board” had the sloping
shape. For the out look, Surf Board was spacious enough to one
who can even sleep on that. Through the help of Surf board, the
ruler Kela used to swim and enter into the deep sea and come

back to the island. No one in the island had the swimming skill
as that of Kela.
Her brother Kavo used to say “Kela would have been born as

mermaid of sea”. Some among the skillful swimmers used to

fold their legs and sit on the board while on voyage in the sea.
Very few swimmers used to even stand on board, while they get
into sea and venture. When the ruler ‘Kela’ grew up, her brother
‘Kavo’ had the thought of marriage for his sister.
But ‘Kela’ gave a condition. That condition was that one who
wishes to marry her should have the skill of surf board and
he should defeat her in the swimming competition. In another
Island nearby called “MAI” lived a ruler called “Loloal”. In the

life of Loloal, a tragedy took place. He whole heartedly loved a
girl of his Island. He used to play with her in the sea. It was
usual to go into the sea with surf board. Loloal and his lover
girl entered into the sea one day. Unfortunately on that day
a storm attacked their balance. In that accident Loloal lost
his lover girl.
Even after two years, Loloal could not realize himself from
the shock. But the people of the land reminded him and
compelled him to get married soon. Then Loloal made a visit
to ‘Hawaii’. In ‘Hawaii where all the youngsters had failed
to win the ‘surf board’ competition with the ruler ‘Kela’, her
marriage was also getting postponed.
The prince Loloal had come to know about this and
decided to compete with her. The competition took place.
Fortunately Loloal had won the match. The brother of
Kela arranged the marriage for both of them and they
got married.
After the marriage, Loloal told Kela, all his memories. In that
events he told about his lover girl and times with the surf board
into the deep sea and also the incident of accident. Loloal
requested his wife ‘Kela’ to come to his Island “MAI” where
there was a place surrounded by mountains. He suggested
further that there was an old fort for a comfortable living. But
Kela denied her husband’s request, because she loved the sea of
‘Hawaii’ very much and their family life was also good.
After some years they had one child and become parents of few
more children later. Since the years passed Loloal had forgotten
his lover girl who died in the sea. So in “Hawaii” itself Loloal
had built a new palace near the ocean and lived happily, with
the family.

the path to Spirituality…
as objects seen in a dream are outside the dreamer, but which
merges into himself in the state of Realization – for then he sees
the Self alone, just as the awakened dreamer sees himself alone
and not the objects he dreamt. (Dakshinamurthi Stotra)
As we travel the path to Spirituality, it has to be clearly understood
that it is beyond our body, mind, energy or emotions. As a first
attempt in the form of writing this article, let us be aware of
certain guidelines and teachings of Great Saints. This article
highlights some excerpts from the knowledge and wisdom
shared by our forefathers
(GURUS) like Ramana
Maharishi and Swami
Vivekananda.
Guru or a Master:
Firstly, Guru means
dispeller of darkness
(of ignorance). The
Great Saints who have
come and gone before
us clearly define that
a Guru is one who has
meditated solely on
God, has flung his whole
personality into the sea
of God and drowned and forgotten it there, till he becomes only
the instrument of God; and when his mouth opens it speaks
God’s words without effort or forethought; and when he raises
a hand, God flows again through that, to work a miracle. Do
not think too much of psychical phenomena and such things.
Their number is legion; and once faith in the psychical thing is
established in the heart of a seeker, such phenomena have done
their work. Clairvoyance, clairaudience, and such things are
not worth having, when so much far greater illumination and
peace are possible without them than with them. The Guru
takes on these powers as a form of Self-Sacrifice.
The idea that a Master is simply one who has attained power
over the various occult senses by long practice and prayer or
anything of the kind, is absolutely false. No Guru ever cared a
rap for occult powers, for he has no need for them in his daily
life. The phenomena we see are curious and surprising – but
the most marvelous of all we do not realize and that is that one,
and only one, illimitable force is responsible for: -- All the
phenomena we see; and the Act of seeing them.
Do not fix your attention on all these changing things of life,
dearth and phenomena. Do not think of even the actual act of
seeing or perceiving them, but only of that which sees all these
things – That which is responsible for it all. This will seem
nearly impossible at first, but by degrees the result will be felt.

It takes years of steady, daily practice, and that is how a Guru
is made. Give a quarter of an hour a day for this practice.
Try to keep the mind unshakenly fixed on That which sees.
It is inside yourself. Do not expect to find that “That” is
something definite on which the mind can be fixed easily:
it will not be so. Though it takes years to find that “That”,
the results of this concentration will be seen in four or five
months’ time – in all sorts of unconscious clairvoyance, in
peace of mind, in power to deal with troubles, in power all
round, yet always unconscious power.
Let the aforementioned thoughts and teachings of Ramana
Maharishi guide us in our path to spirituality. From now
onwards, let your whole thought in meditation be not on the
act of seeing, nor on what you see, but immovably on That
which Sees.

God or an Almighty:
As Swami Vivekananda put it in an easy way to understand
for a question from one of his disciple “ whether God exists?”,
he pointed to three things in our life – (1) as long as the event
of death exists, (2) as long as the events that we desire for,
does not happen and (3) as long as the events that we do
not desire for, does happen -- God will exist, whether you
believe it or not.
Religion, whether it be Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism,
Theosophy, or any other kind of “Ism” or “Sophy” or system,
can only take us to the one point where all religions meet and
no further. That one point where all religions meet is the
realization – in no mystical sense, but in the most worldly
and everyday sense, and the more worldly and everyday and
practical the better, -- of the fact that God is everything, and
every thing is God.
From this point begins the work of the practice of this mental
comprehension, and all it amounts to is the breaking of a
habit. One has to cease calling things “things”, and must
call them God; and instead of thinking them to be things,
must know them to be God; instead of imagining “existence”
to be the only thing possible, one must realize that this
phenomenal existence is only the creation of the mind, that
“non-existence” is a necessary sequence if you are going to
postulate “existence”.
The knowledge of things only shows the existence of an
organ to cognize. There are no sounds to the deaf, no sights
to the blind, and the mind is merely an organ of conception
or of appreciation of certain sides of God.
God is infinite, and therefore existence and non-existence
are merely His counterparts. Further to above-mentioned
understandings of Ramana Maharishi, he also doesn’t wish
to say that God is made up of Definite component parts. It
is hard to be comprehensive when talking of God. True
knowledge comes from within and not from without. And
true knowledge is not “knowing” but “seeing”.

In the world history, “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” was a
very notable king of Greek. His ambitions and hopes were
always focused on expanding his power and regime by covering
almost all countries of Asia.
His troops and commanders were very large in numbers. The
victories followed one after another. All the routes and ways,
up to India were known perfectly by his Commanders. The
annexing of the countries and enlarging his kingdom for several
thousands miles were done with great efforts. There was a stage
when Alexander was capturing the position of emperor of the
world.
On his way, after reaching the Indian Territory, the great king
happened to witness a scene. There was a man, with long beard
sitting under a tree and meditating who looked just
like a Fakir. Fakirs were the persons
inland, like Afghanistan with
long beard. As Alexander
went closer,
wondered to see
this man with
no cloths.
But, the
king’s
presence
was not
noticed
by that
Fakir. Since
Alexander
crossed all the
lands and met
several people, he just
considered that man as Fakir.

Slowly the sage opened his eyes and began to speak. “Oh, King
Alexander, I know you are a valiant and a great warrior. Why
should you interfere in my duties?”
Astonishingly, the King calmed down from his temper and asked
the sage, “All the people from all countries are welcoming and
bow down their heads in respect. Why are you, the only person
to disobey the situation?”
Sage smiled and told “Only for the Almighty, the God, I use to
bow and pray. Even though you are a king, you are just a man
like me. So, I need no commitment to bow”. Sage added further
“Your days are counted, when you go back to home after these
victories, the death will occur. Bear it in your mind”.
King did not want to continue any conversation with the sage
and went on to attend his duty. Later, Alexander won several
other battles and was returning to his country. In the midway he
fell ill and was suffering. The circumstance was very crucial and
