Student Teacher Denfeld High School, Duluth, MN Jan-March 2013 Adapted instruction for a diverse population of students, including a high percentage of students who receive special services and free and reduced lunch. Instructed a full grading period of Drama/Values as Literature and two sections of English 9. Developed and taught two units: Lessons in American Drama and Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet: Exploring Teenage Identity. Co-taught with a special education teacher in a class with a large number of students receiving special services (included attending SST and IEP meetings). Apprentice Teacher Denfeld High School, Duluth, MN October-December 2012 Assisted cooperating teacher with Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, English 9, and Drama/Values as Literature courses over a three-month period. Developed and taught lessons on nonverbal communication for an Interpersonal Communication class and writing lessons for English 9. Worked one-on-one and in small groups with struggling readers and at-risk students. Selected for UMDs Teaching Apprenticeship Pilot Program through which I was involved in many aspects of school including the fall play, speech team, staff development, and various other meetings, interviews, and observations.
