I have worked closely with Brittany at Boyd Dining Hall (Ohio University Culinary Services) for over 3 years as her Student Coordinator. During this time, she began working as a Student Employee and was then promoted to Student Manager, and I can personally attest to her work ethic, attitude, and growth as a leader and teacher. As a student employee, Brittany was extremely dedicated and reliable. Her attendance and work performance were outstanding. She was able to easily multitask with her other commitments, such as school work and extra curriculars. She was very friendly, respectful, and worked well with others. Even as an employee, Brittany was naturally inclined to leadership, many times taking charge of the shift by delegating work to other employees to help aid in the smoothness and efficiency of the shift, as well as aiding in the training of new employees. Due to her outstanding leadership skills, she was promoted to Student Manager. Throughout her work as a Student Manager, Brittany has truly shown her promise and skill as a teacher. As a manager, she is responsible for training new employees and overseeing their performance, as well as the operation of the Dining Hall. Her patience, positive attitude, and proclivity for concise, detail-oriented explanations have proved her to be one of our best trainers. She has greatly improved employee morale, finding a way to motivate even the most stubborn employees. At the same time, she is also able to be stern when necessary and discipline employees in a way that does not belittle or discourage them. Instead, she makes them understand their fault and repeatedly works with them to correct and improve it. I have been especially impressed with Brittanys effort with our OWA workers, a small group of local junior high students. On many occasions these youths have expressed their gratitude for her to me. She has taken a personal interest in them, working with them closely and trying to better them not just as employees, but as people. She is very relatable, and they feel extremely comfortable speaking with her and bringing any issues they face to her. Her connection to and care for them is obvious in the way she speaks to and about them. Their success is her success, and she seeks to continually develop them and influence not only how they perform at work, but in life as well. Brittany Brewer is an exceptional leader and teacher. Her work as a Student Manager has both benefited from and assisted to her work as a teacher. She has continually impressed me, and I am positive that her knowledge and skill will only expand and improve with time.
