Testing for the NPC should start at a distance of 40 cm. or 16 inches. The patient may hold the target as they bring it closer to their nose. The test is complete when the patient reports a double target or it touches the nose. Alternatively, the Doctor holds the target and brings it close to the patient along their line of sight. Measurement of the test should be done with a millimeter rule. The results are NOT converted to diopters but are recorded in millimeters from the nose or reported as TTN (To The Nose).
