Job Shadow Reflection 1.

Was the job shadow you completed the same career field that you identified in your career PowerPoint? If you completed the experience in another field, explain why there was a need to change career fields. The job shadow I completed was not the same as the career field that I identified in my career PowerPoint. There was a need to change my career choice because I wanted to understand teachers, school board, and the education field a bit more. After taking a closer look at the field, I found out that I was more interested in the education field because I feel as though it needs a drastic change, and I could possibly be the one to make that change. 2. As a result of your job shadow experience, are you still planning to pursue the same career or has the experience led you in a new direction? Explain. As a result of my job shadowing, Im still planning on pursuing the same career as I shadowed. 3. During your job shadow, what skills did you observe that are needed to be proficient at this career? As I did my job shadowing, I noticed you will need a lot of patience and dedication for the job. 4. What activities and or duties did you like\dislike about the experience? I will be working with different type of kids from different backgrounds along with different morals and values. I loved being able to monitor the teacher to student interactions. The students were actually focused and urged to learn more about the lesson. 5. Do you see yourself doing this job for the duration of your working career? Yes, I see myself doing this career for the duration of my career because I love teaching people knew things and working with children. 6. Aside from academic preparation in school, what are some other things that you can do in order to prepare for your intended career field? Aside from academic preparation, I could do more research, digging into the field, and more of shadowing that itself to prepare for this career field. 7. Is there any important tips and or advice you were given by your mentor concerning your career field? As a matter of fact there was advice my mentor gave me on this career choice. This particular job shadow was in a high school setting and she made me aware of how crucial it is to study, become more aware, and reach all deadlines, without procrastinating. 8. Considering everything you have learned, what is the most invaluable lesson you have learned from your job shadowing experience, and how will this help you to move forward in your intended career field. The most invaluable lesson I learned is how important it is to further your education regardless of what career path you embark upon. Emanuel Sorina 3-25-14
