It had 14 apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors. During the Mid-80s there was talk about closing the Stahl House, and it possibly being torn down. 1986: The City of Mankato took over the ownership of the Stahl House Building. The City had complications selling it to investors or a private party

The Stahl House Building still includes apartments and independent businesses The Businesses include The Wine Caf, a winery, and Haugbeck Homes Inc. The over a century old building has gone through many interior changes throughout the years to qualify for and meet ordinances and building codes and to accommodate the businesses that have come and gone. Other than the painting of the building and the paint being sand blasted off, the exterior has stayed about the same.
