Learning Objective: When given a list of addition and subtraction problems, students will complete the problems with 80% accuracy. Alignment with Standards:
(MATH) K.OA1 Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations. .
Developmental Appropriateness or Cross-curricular connections: Students need to know the importance and value the ability of addition and subtraction. These skills will be prevalent throughout their lives, so it is very important for each student to master the skill. Assessment(s) of the Objectives: Objective: When given a list of addition and subtraction problems, students will complete the problems with 80% accuracy. Pre- Assessment: Complete addition and subtraction problems on the classrooms smartboard, as a whole group. During Assessment: Students will come to the board and answer questions, while working together. After Assessment: Students will be given an assessment with a number line and manipulatives to work out the addition and subtraction problems.

Assessment(s) of the Objective(s) Pre- Assessment: Complete addition and subtraction problems on the classrooms smartboard, as a whole group. During Assessment: Students will come to the board and answer questions, while working together. After Assessment: Students will be given an assessment with a number line and manipulatives to work out the addition and subtraction problems.
Use of Formative Assessment This lesson will be useful for students as it will teach the basic and fundamental skills needed to be successful in future grades, as well as throughout life situations that require addition and subtraction.
When given a list of addition and subtraction problems, students will complete the problems with 80% accuracy.
Accommodations: Students that face difficulty with counting and recognizing numbers and their value will be given a number line, as well as manipulatives such as beans or pennies to move to solve addition and subtraction problems. Students that face difficulty counting will be given a physical number line to place their beans or pennies on. Every student will have fill and total access to the teacher for additional assistance. Least restrictive environment will be implemented throughout the lesson, as well as throughout the classroom. Materials: Classroom smartboard Math assessment
