An Opinion on the Epic that was English Class Throughout this semester I have frequently asked myself, what does English mean to me? I havent truly found an answer, instead Ive found another question, what do I mean to English? In a sense these two questions are the same for various reasons, first off, they are identical in their reciprocity. My relationship with English does not only work in a single direction, but is a constant dialogue. Secondly This English class has helped me understand that I can have as much an effect on the literature and dialogue of English as these traits of English have on me. My original goals, I feel, had very little standing within the frames of our class. They were made with an extreme bias towards other more structured and less intensive class structures. In this regards I think that they had little impact on how I interacted within the class, and how I intend to use the methods and techniques that were gained. I feel that even without my goals this class effectively taught me how to narrow my writing to a specific voice and tone. Even beyond this, I have begun to understand how each different type of text and response to texts should be phrased, toned, and structured. I feel that this was the main purpose of the course, and for me, the most important. When I first came to this I structured my thoughts, and my papers, in a very stream of consciousness kind of way. It felt jagged and flowed with little precision or forethought. To some extent this is still the case, but understanding your own flaws is a good precursor to fixing them. Structuring essays in a way that other people can follow and understand has never been my strong suit, but I can now help along the reader.

Another issue of mine was how I seemed to lack the ability to revise my drafts. Many times my drafts would just have minor changes even if major ones were required. Although this was a more personal issue than one addressed by the class, I see it as one of my major learning curves for this semester. Hopefully both of these will increase my credibility as an author, or in my future publications. We had a great dynamic in the class. Camaraderie is definitely one our better group qualities. Helping each other out with peer reviews and the like. Although we we rent as vocal as some other classes that I have taken before, we did well above the average in terms of grasping the various concepts. Many of the readings may not have been fully read by all involved, and there may have been a bit more socializing than was necessary (not to name names), but I feel that we addressed all the things required, and more. Overall, this has been a great experience for me personally. I have found and partially fixed various issues integral to my writing process. This took place within a good group of peers who were willing to help me along need be. In general Im happy with this class, and with any outcome that the series of events gives.
