Human Health and Physiology Unit Project

Introduction As interns at Fans Disease Prevention Advocacy Institute, you will be working in groups of four to create a brochure and record a 5-minute newscast video about a selected disease. This research project will demonstrate your knowledge of human health and physiology, as well as allow you to explore your choice of a human disease. Overview The brochure and newscast video must demonstrate thorough research on a selected disease. The newscast video should focus on the diseases epidemiology, clinical manifestation, diagnosis, biochemistry, and treatment, while the brochure advocates for prevention of the disease. As both components are aimed for the general public, scientific terminologies used should be appropriate for an audience with limited prior knowledge about the topic. The disease is chosen by your group and must affect one of the seven human body systems studied in the class: Digestive System Cardiovascular System Immune System Respiratory System Nervous System Endocrine System Reproductive System After your selected disease has been approved by the teacher, you are expected to conduct research with your group as part of your daily homework. The working bibliography, due a week after the disease selection deadline, is a list of sources you are using for the brochure and newscast video. It must contain at least 5 credible sources written in MLA format. By no means is this a final bibliography. As you progress you may find additional sources or end up not using a cited one. Before the submission of your final project, you are required to submit a script for the newscast video, which must storyboard your video and provide a clear sense of what your video will look like.
