Emma Spike-Neaman 4/21/14 Math-5 Ushil and the Destruction of Ushlania Imagine a world much like ours.

With houses, cars, supermarkets even iPhones. Now imagine it in three colors: Blue, yellow and orange. This is Ushils world. Ushil is an Ushlanian who lives on the planet Ushlania. Ushlania is about 300,00 light-years away from earth. This means that if we were to travel at the speed of light, it would take us 300,000 years to get there. This is the first time ever an Ushlanian has made contact with planet earth. Ushils story goes like this: on his planet there was another race of aliens called leviathans. These creatures terrorized the ocean, capsizing ships and making meals of the unfortunate sailors. Eventually, these monsters wanted more than just the oceans, they wanted all of Ushlania. They waged a horrible war on the Ushlanians for nearly 1,000 years. Eventually it became clear to Ushil: he had to leave the only place hed ever known. Because the Ushlanains were much more advanced then us, they had already sent many Ushlanians to other planets. Ushil got together his supplies and left his dying planet. His ship was on course to Ushlavarska, a planet with a similar species of Alien but a huge asteroid knocked him off course. His computer system had failed when he landed on earths moon. When he saw the flags, he figured that get his computer fixed on earth. He is now being taken care of at Area 51. When Ushil last saw Ushlania, it looked a lot like a more advanced earth. They things like holotime, where a 3D image of the person would be projected from the iPhone (version number 309c). They had things like teloporters, which could move objects from place to another, no matter how far. Sadly, all books had been eradicated because of the 4098 amendment, Books waste the few tree we have. There shall be no more books printed. This did add to the downfall of Ushlania. Because of the effect it had on the environment, all livestock had been discontinued and all Ushlanians lived off a plant -based diet.

Many things contributed to the uprising of the Leviathans. The leviathans were a sea dwelling creature. They like clear, sanitary just as humans like clean, sanitary air. When the Ushlanians started poising and polluting the oceans, Leviathans started getting annoyed. They thought that it would be a good enough warning to kill a few sailors here and there. Clearly it was not, so they had to protect theyre home. Leviathans had been living in the ocean for many years before the Ushlanians had come. They were only penetrable by most ancient weapons. When the books were eradicated, all ways of making ancient weapons were lost. The Leviathans were impervious to new technology, so it was easy to wipe out huge numbers of Ushlanians. There are many lessons that we can learn from the destruction of Ushlania. The greenhouse effect is serious problem, which will lead to many others. The greenhouse effect happens when greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide and methane trap heat in the earths atmosphere. In order to survive, we need this process to occur but we are overloading the atmosphere with greenhouse gasses. This means more heat is trapped and the earths temperature rises. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), 30% of greenhouse gasses emitted by people are methane. This shows that by keeping animals, we are releasing more methane, which adds to the greenhouse effect. Also, the concept of Leviathans taking over is not as far fetched, as we would think. Big corporations are dumping harmful chemicals into our oceans, which has an effect on the nearby wildlife. These chemicals can a mutation in the gene, and over thousands of years, these mutations could turn a friendly fish into a not-so-friendly Piranha.
