KENDRA STOKES
Competency 1
The principal knows
how to shape campus
culture by facilitating
the development,
articulation,
implementation, and
stewardship of a
vision of learning that
is shared and
supported by the
school community.
ADDRESSED:
As a department chair high expectations were
put on all of the math teachers to do everything
in their power and with my guidance to help all
students become successful in the classroom.
The department, as well as the grade level,
participated in collaborative planning that
focused on teaching and learning.
Communication and collaboration occurred
among the different elementary feeders and the
local high school to keep the students involved in
several community projects.
LEARNED:
The importance of the relationships that are
created with all stakeholders within the
community.
The community has a huge impact on the
students success and involvement in the school.

The community wants to help to build a strong
connection with the school and the students.
GOALS:
Develop a strong relationship with the
community surrounding the school including
parents, feeder schools, and business owners.
Ensure that the school is doing as much for the
community as the community does for the
school.

Competency 2
The principal knows
how to
communicate and
collaborate with all
members of the
school community,
respond to diverse
interests and needs,
and mobilize
resources to
promote student
success.
ADDRESSED:
Worked with several teachers to analyze
data and use the information to put
students into proper tutorial sessions.
Effectively communicated with the teachers
to implement new strategies and organized
groupings to ensure all students were
accounted for and in the correct place.
LEARNED:
Communication is not just the process of
putting out information but also making
sure that everyone involved has a clear
understanding of their role and what is
expected of them.
Written communication should not be the
only form of communication in any
situation that includes a lot of steps and
details.
GOALS:
Establish a school culture where
communication and collaboration are not
frown upon or feared by any individual.
Continue to work on my communication
and collaboration skills so I am better able
to help others improve.
Competency 3
The principal knows
how to act with
integrity, fairness,
and in an ethical
and legal manner.
ADDRESSED:
Assisted teachers in
understanding how to properly
follow and understand an IEP.
Served as an educational
advocate for special education
students in regular education
classrooms.
LEARNED:
Many teachers are not aware of
legal guidelines for serving special
education students.
It is important to share with
others your knowledge of the law,
policies, and procedures because
they are not always as
knowledgeable of the situations.
GOALS:
Continue to keep up with the
laws, polices, and procedures for
the state, the district, and the
school I am employed at.
Continue to do what is right for
students.
Competency 4
The principal knows
how to facilitate the
design and
implementation of
curricula and
strategic plans that
enhance teaching
and learning;
ensure alignment of
assessments to
measure student
performance.
ADDRESSED:
Facilitated data team meetings
using the data that was collected
to make decisions about how
curriculum was taught.
Facilitate the coordination and
development of common
assessments and grade level
planning.
LEARNED:
Giving the teachers the time and
guidance for planning has an
affect deep the lesson is taught.
Teachers need the time to analyze
the data and make decisions
based on the data.
GOALS:
To find the time during
department meetings to spend on
data.
Allow more time for teachers
doing positive things in their
classrooms to share with other
teachers.
To spend more time in other
teachers classrooms to get more
ideas on how to teach a concept.
Competency 5
The principal knows
how to advocate,
nurture, and sustain
an instructional
program and a
campus culture that
are conducive to
student learning
and staff
professional growth.
ADDRESSED:
Used data to support the
individual needs of students.
Analyzed the class scheduling
format and made changes to
improve the teaching and
learning.
LEARNED:
The importance of making
changes that are conducive to
teaching and learning.
The importance of students
receiving flexible instructional
programs with appropriate
resources.
GOALS:
Continue to be a strong
advocate for student learning
and teacher professional
development opportunities.
Create conditions that
encourage school staff to make
decision using data to support
and improve instructional
strategies.
Competency 6
The principal knows how
to implement a staff
evaluation and
development system to
improve the performance
of all staff members,
select and implement
appropriate models for
supervision and staff
development, and apply
the legal requirements for
personnel management.
ADDRESSED:
Assigned other staff members to
provide support to teachers that
were struggling.
Allocated time during department
meetings for teachers to work
with their grade level teams to
implement new professional
development strategies that were
introduced.
Engaged in professional
development activities and took
the time to share the information
with the entire department.
LEARNED:
The importance of engaging in
ongoing professional development
and having the time to implement
the strategies.
The importance of being
consistent with strategies that are
effective.
GOALS:
Continue to find effective
strategies to support teachers and
build the morale of the school.

organizational,
decision-making,
and problem-
solving skills to
ensure an effective
learning
environment.
ADDRESSED:
Active department chair
participating in making school-
wide decisions.
Facilitated team building
activities for the math
department to help develop and
promote strong team
collaboration.
Gathered and used data to
make campus decisions.
LEARNED:
Overcoming a negative culture
is difficult but not impossible
with positive attitudes and a lot
of support.
Being supportive in anyway
possible helps teachers to
believe in your leadership
abilities and make them more
willing to try to do better.
Truly understanding the data
that is collected is important to
the decision making process.
GOALS:
Continue to work on problem-
solving techniques.
Competency 8
The principal knows
how to apply
principles of
effective leadership
and management in
relation to campus
budgeting,
personnel, resource
utilization, financial
management, and
technology use.
ADDRESSED:
Managed the spending of
the sixth grade team funds.

LEARNED:
The different types of
budgets and monies are
allocated for specific
spending.
What would be affected by
adding more personnel.

GOALS:
Work collaboratively with
other stakeholders to
ensure decisions that are
made about the budget and
personnel are going to
benefit the entire school.
Use effective planning to
take advantage of getting
the best personnel before
they have accepted other
positions.
Competency 9
The principal knows
how to apply
principles of
leadership and
management to the
campus physical
plant and support
systems to ensure a
safe and effective
learning
environment.
ADDRESSED:
Ensured all students wear
proper IDs daily.
Addressed every adult that
was in the building without
proper identification.
LEARNED:
The importance of making
sure everyone on campus
had the proper
identification.
The importance of wearing
my identification at all
times.
The reason for the 20% rule
that is required by the fire
marshall.
GOALS:
To be more involved with
the development of the
crisis planning.
Continue to enforce rules
that are in place for the
safety of the students.
