Sample of learning: Simple Machines essay and Macromolecules essay
For the learner prole trait reective, I have chosen 2 of my science one world essays to compare. The rst one world essay was the Simple Machines essay completed last school year during year 9 and the other is my recent Macromolecules one world essay. I had scored a 2,3 for my Simple Machines essay, and scored a 4,5 for my Macromolecules one world essay. When I received my Simple Machines essay back from marking last year, I read through the feed back my teacher gave me, and made a list of what I had to include in my next one world essay to improve my achievement grade. Although I knew that I had the option of getting my essays checked before handing them in, I had not done that for my essay last year (Simple Machines essay). Therefore, I had really lacked in that area as I did not make good use of the resources that were available to me last year. This year, although the requirements have risen, I knew the general criteria of the marking of One World essays hadnt changed. Hence, while writing my Macromolecules science essay, I referred back to my Simple Machines essay, and the checklist I had made after receiving feedback from it last year. At rst, I was a little uncertain of the thought to walk up to a teacher and get my essay checked, but in the end, I did get my Macromolecules essay checked. After I got my essay checked, I received many comments on how I can further improve my piece of work, and simply applied these improvements to my piece of work by making slight modications and changes. I think that I was reective as I looked back at my old pieces of work (Simple Machines essay) and thought of ways on how to improve in my upcoming and current assessment pieces. Also, I read through the teachers feedback on my old pieces of work and attempted to apply the ideas to improve my Macromolecules essay. I had also reected on what my teacher had said last year (to approach him and get our essays checked) and actually wne tin and got my Macromolecules essay checked in hope to improve the quality of my piece of work and maybe even boost myself to the next achievement level. Getting my Macromolecules essay checked had also prevented me from procrastinating since there was always a bunch of students queuing up to get their work checked by my teacher. Not procrastinating allowed my work to be a higher quality, as I really had the time to think about what to write and not just jam words into my work. Although the process of trying to improve my Macromolecules essay was quite time consuming (ipping back and forth between old pieces of work, trying to apply feedback...etc) but the result was denitely worth it. Because I had applied the feed back from my previous essays into my Macromolecules essay, I had scored a 4,5 (highest in the class) which was a massive improvement when compared to the 2,3 I scored for my Simple Machines essay back in year 9 last year. In conclusion, I demonstrated the learner prole trait reective as I had thought of ways I could improve my third lab report after receiving my essay back last year, I had reected on the things the teacher had said about my essay last year (simple machines) and most importantly, I had gone back and reected on what I had not done for my essay last year (get it checked by the teacher) and made sure I did that in my Macromolecules essay.
