Day 3-5 Lesson Plan

Objectives:
Students will construct a biographical power point presentation on significant figures throughout
The Age of Reform(1820-1860). (DOK 2)(MS.8.SS. 4 a, b, c and d; 6a) ( NCSS Theme 4, 5 and
10 )( CCSS 6-8.7)


Materials:
1. Smartboard
2. Macbooks
3. paper
4. pencil
5. textbook

Opening (Set)
Good morning students, today we will be starting a biographical power point project. Each
student has been assigned a group and each group will draw a name from a cup, which will be
the individual you will be doing your project on. We will work on the project for two days and
on the third day each group will present their project to the class.

Learning Tasks (Procedures)
A. As the students enter the room, have the group assignment sheet posted on the
Smartboard.
B. Place the students in their assigned groups; in which, the classroom will already
be organized before the start of class.
C. Walk around to each group and have them draw a piece of paper out of a cup.
Each piece of paper will have a name of an individual in the chapter. The students
will do their project on this person.
D. After each group has selected an individual, put the project rubric on the
Smartboard and discuss the project requirements.
E. Tell the students they will have two days to work on the project and will present
the project to the class on Friday.
F. Let the students get started and answer questions as needed.
G. On the day of presentations allow the students to connect their MacBooks to the
Smartboard and present to the class.
Closure:
In the last few minutes of class tell the students that you really enjoyed the presentations and
they did a wonderful job. Also, tell them they will have an opportunity to finish their Cornell
notes Monday.

Differentiated Instruction:
Intervention
Placing students with partners that may be more advanced in the subject; in which, students
must have meaningful discussion and learn from one another to complete the project.
