Ever since I was a young boy, leadership has been an evident part of my life.
Growing up, I was
the oldest of three children, and as such, was often instructed by my parents to set the precedent of behavior for my younger siblings. My parents instructed me in the ways of leadership from a very young age, constantly reminding that I was born to lead. Their words stuck with me, and I focused on them as I grew. My life has led me through many experiences that have honed my leadership skills, such as being a camp counsellor and leading a large group of teens in worship on a regular basis. These experiences, coupled with my leadership oriented upbringing, have developed a set of leadership skills that will greatly aid me in accomplishing my career goals at loomsburg !niversity. "onsistency is an essential part of any leader#s lifestyle, and is respected by those who are in observance of them$ people truly do respect those who practice what they preach. Throughout my high school career, there have been many opportunities for me to engage in behavior which was common, but would ultimately distract from my goals, such as drinking, smoking, and drugs. I gained the respect of my peers by not only professing to be opposed to such activities, but by backing those words with action, leading by example. My consistency in word and action throughout high school in combination with my commitment to excellence has gained me the respect of my peers, furthered my goals, and proved to have been an effective leadership skill. %s I have led my peers and those younger than me in multiple settings over the years, I have noticed a trend which I have taken to heart. I believe that when faced with a leadership situation, relationship dictates response. &eople are likely to respond better to a leader who has invested time and energy into a relationship than they are to a distant authority figure whom they feel has no consideration for them. I have used my uni'ue ability to foster and develop relationships with people to gain their trust and respect, which has proved infinitely valuable in leadership settings. %s I plan to attend loomsburg "ollege and ultimately achieve my career goal of becoming an English teacher, I believe my particular set of leadership skills will aid me tremendously. I would use my skills to foster relationships with students, truly gaining their respect, and by example lead them towards a life of excellence. I believe that my particular set of leadership skill make me a valuable leader, and I hope to demonstrate them effectively through my attendance at loomsburg.
