Chopper ON
As long as chopper on Mechanical energy converted into
electrical energy by the motor, now working as generator,
increases the stored magnetic energy in the armature
circuit.
Chopper OFF
When chopper is switched OFF, a large voltage appears
across the motor terminals this voltage is more than that
of the supply voltage and the energy stored in the
inductance and energy supplied by the machines is fed
back to the supply system
When the voltage of the motor fall to supply voltage, the
diodes in the blocks the current flow preventing any short
circuit of the load can be supplied to the source
