DEFINITION OF MEAL
SERVICE
Definition: Meal service,
referred to as simply
"service" in the restaurant
business is the time
where food is served.
Dinner service, for
example, may run from 6-
10pm.
Examples: The worst
time to call a restaurant is
during service as
everyone is busy and
under pressure.
SPECIAL MEAL SERVICE
 Special Meal Services
 The quality of meals served
on THAI flights is one of the
most delicious benefits
offered to our passengers,
in all classes. However,
many travellers have special
requirements to allow for
their religious, health, or
dietary restraints. To cater
for these particular needs,
THAI offers a full range of
special menus, which
should be ordered, in
advance, at the same time

Vegetarian meal (AVML)
.
Vegetarian Hindu/Indian
Non-Strict Indian/Hindu vegetarian
meal which meat/ fish/ fowl and
their products/ product with lard or
gelatines and eggs are all
prohibited.

 Infant/Baby food (BBML)
This type of meal is suggested to
request for infant who is between
the age of 6 to 10months old.

 Bland/Soft meal (BLML)
Bland/Soft meal or light or low fibre
diet. Recommended for
stomach/Intestinal problems.

 Gluten-Free meal (GFML)
Gluten free diet avoids
gluten which is found in
wheat, rye, barley and oats.

 Hindu meal (HNML)
Hindu meal contains no beef,
veal or pork. Prepared with
lamb, fish and other meats.
Milk products allow.

 Kosher meal (KSML)
Kosher meal conforms to the
requirements of Jewish
dietary laws.
HOME DELIVERED MEAL SERVICE
 Home-delivered meal is
a service designed to
provide consumers with
one to two safe and
nutritious meals per day
that meet the current
dietary guidelines for
Americans and the
recommended dietary
allowances (RDA) and
dietary reference intakes
(DRI).

 Meal
 (1) The provider must adopt a consumer choice plan that offers the
consumer an opportunity to make a choice about the food served
by using one or more of the following methods:
 (a) Offer consumer choices from two or more of the following
groups of food: milk; bread; fruit; vegetable; meat; and dessert.
 (b) Offer consumers the opportunity to provide suggestions for
menu planning at least annually.
 (c) Implement an alternative choice plan approved by ODA’s
designee.
STANDARD MEAL SERVICE
 Our Standard Meal Service enables clients to enjoy two
freshly prepared meals delivered to their place of
residence.
 The main meal consists of soup, meat/poultry/fish,
potato/rice/pasta and a vegetable. The tray lunch
consists of a sandwich/hearty salad, fruit, dessert and
snack.

Standard 1304.23(c)
regulates meal services in
center-based settings.
It informs staff that they must
allow children enough time to
eat their meals and directs
staff on how to provide a
variety of foods, feed infants,
and participate in nutrition
activities with children.
