Eye Tests

Aim: Plan an investigation to find out how the distance at which a person can
read the test chart depends upon the size of the letters.
Variables
Independent: Distance of the letters
Dependent: The visibility of the letters.
Controlled: Amount of light.
-Distance at which one is reading
-Chart used for testing.
-Height where chart is placed.
Hypothesis: I predict that the smaller the letters are the less you can see,
because if the letters are small you need to get up close to see them.
Materials:
1. Paper
2. Chart
3. Pencils
4. Measuring Ruler
5. Measuring Tape
6. Tape
Method:
1. First we prepared everything to start.
2. We stuck the eye chart paper to the wall.
3. The first person to be tested was Abhipsa.
4. The second person to be test was Diana.
5. The third person to be tested was India.
6. Than we tested me.
7. We were still missing people so we picked to other people to be tested.
8. After we were finished testing everyone we compared results to make
sure everything was correct.

Conclusion:
In the graph it shows a pattern that the smaller the letters get, the closer
people get. I predict that the smaller the letters are the less you can see,
because if the letters are small you need to get up close to see them. During
the experiment, I think my hypothesis was easy to confirm, because the results
on the graph show that the smaller the letter get the closer the people need to
be, for example in Jays first try the size of the letters was 3mm and he got
3.91, but when the letters got smaller to 1.5mm he got 1.84m.
Evaluation:
During our experiment, we had no problems with the equipment and I think it
was just the right equipment for this experiment, because it was easy to
measure how far the people were and I felt like we could trust the eye chart
because our results similar to each other.
At the end of the experiment I felt like I could trust the results because we
tested them enough times. The method followed during our experiment was
good, because we were organized and got over it fast.
In the end, we went over the results of everyone to make sure everyone had the
same thing, and I felt like I could trust the conclusion because the way we did it
was organized, and because we made sure nobody cheated in the results.
In the middle of our experiment it was hard to measure because while people
were stepping back they were memorising the letters, and it was hard to make
sure that did not happen, so we decided to cover all the letters and leave one
letter out.
