How To Care and Handle Pets
When you get a puppy or a kitten, learn how to hold it properly, for example, support it
with one hand under the body and the other around its shoulder. The pet should be held and
support carefully or cradled in your arms. Do not hold it too tightly as this can hurt them. If the
pet is too big for you to hold, then it should not be picked up as you may accidentally drop it.
Many puppies and kittens suffer from broken limbs as a result of this. Grabbing the puppy or
kitten by one leg may injure it.
Puppies and kittens are like children, they need a lot of sleep. Therefore, they should not
be disturbed when asleep. They do not like being disturbed and may scratch or bite.
The most important tip is not to cause pain to the pet. A dog, a cat or a hamster may not
bite on purpose but if threatened they may bite to protect themselves.
Always wash your hands after handling your pets and should not allow them to lick your
face.
