Large Group Inservice Day: August 28th: Presentation by Jane and Sue
Overall introduction of Marzanos philosophy and iObservation
Introduction to the shift in evaluation tools
question and answer

Week 1 Staff Meeting: Element 1 - September 24th
Hand out paper form of element rubric
Pull up forms in iObservation and watch the video with element 1


PLC WORK: - September 30th
Research and develop scales and rubrics appropriate for your classroom as a
PLC...have at least one generic scale and another one developed specifically for the
learning target


Large Group Inservice Day: September 27th: Presentation by Jane and Sue
In the A.M. Jane and Sue came to the elementary to coach Mr. Beyer, Mr.
Stotesbery, Mr. Helland, and Ms. Raske through a couple of group observations
Observations were followed by team discussion and reflection
Afternoon large staff inservice covering element 1 in depth and overall coverage
of the Marzanos philosophy as a whole


Week 3 Staff Meeting: Element 1 - October 7th
Search: element 1 and show the developing levels for element 1
talk about PLC work for this week and next week


PLC WORK: October 14th
continue developing rubrics and work on learning goals
Examine the documents provided by administrator (writing learning goals, learning goal
examples, and essential question writing)


Coaches Training at SCSC: October 10th and 11th
Seven teacher coaches (Bob Helland, Chad Becker, Ryan Stotesbery, Terese
Bergeman, Josette Eldridge, Julie Grabianowski, Julie Lehman, and Sara Wimmer)
attended the coaches training at SCSC, which prepared them and the district to
fulfill the coaching requirement for teacher evaluation. This also allowed for them
to develop the understanding of the programming that was necessary in order to
foster the newfound partnership in making this process a positive one for all staff


Large Group Inservice Day: October 16th: Presentation by Jane and Sue
Continue to cover elements 1-5 for staff
Answer and questions
Covered the Scale/Rubrics
Staff watched videos and practiced Rating them
Each group was assigned an element and they were expected to know the element
and what each rating looked like...asked to explain it to the group
Teachers were asked to document on a stop sign what they needed help on
moving forward


Week 5 Staff Meeting: Element 1 Review
Go over element 1 again
review the rubric and scales
answer questions and staff rates themselves on understanding of elements
go over iObservation system go tos as to get them going
Have staff write a post it on the stop sign (staff rate themselves and also write a need to
know as to drive future inservices


Week 6: Staff Meeting: November 4th
Go over Pre and Post Conference form expectations
Show the form on iObservation for staff

PLC Work: November 11th
Establish learning goals for lessons and plan method for student monitoring


Large Group Inservice Day: November 8th: Presentation by Jane and Sue
Covered and answered questions from teacher survey
Went over strategies for great instruction
(coaches met in conference room to plan PLC work, Timelines, and to establish
definitions)


Week 6: Staff Meeting: November 18th
Go over coaches definitions
cover rubric vs. scales/rubrics

PLC Work: November 25th
PLCs work on how they are monitoring for the week
Large PLC work with Molly to cover additional questions or need for clarifications


Coaches Training at MADELIA!: December 9th
30or more (7 from Madelia) area coaches went to Lake Crystal to authentically
practice their use of Marzanos rubric and iObservation. They went into several
classrooms to do this, followed by a conference as a coaching team after to
facilitate learning and reflection on their understanding/misunderstandings of the
scales.

Large Group Inservice Day: January 2nd (full day): Presentation by Jane and Sue
Covering the indivudualized growth plan
teachers complete their plan and SMART goal for each of their low areas (choose
two)

Large Group Inservice Day: January 3rd (full day): Presentation by NWEA
Staff was trained on NWEA use and how to read the reports


PLC: Cold Day-Now School

Staff Meeting: January 13, 2014
Go over how to write a SMART goal and the philosophy behind them

January Board Meeting: January 21, 2014 report to the board on what iObservation
is, show them the technology, allow them the opportunity to see a video and rate
it. Answer questions as asked

Staff Meeting: January 17, 2014
Go over district wide data from integration planning meeting
Introduce Grit and show a short video

PLC: February 3, 2014
Gradelevels get together and add their reading and math NWEA scores into the Google
Data Document

Staff Meeting: February 10, 2014
Share data comparing our MCA III results vs. our challenge rating from:
http://minnesotatestdata.com/
Shared our data verses others and how this data drives what steps we take for
curriculum design, etc. based off of data such as this

PLC: February 18, 2014
Staff pull class data and design MCA bootcamps and after school targeted services
around the specific student needsbased on math vs. readingon down to the strands
in both

Staff Meeting: February 24, 2014
No physical meeting this week due to two snow days at the end of this week. However,
chapter 7 of Mindset was supplied to read prior to next weeks PLC meetings

PLC Meeting: March 3, 2014
Meet around chapter 7 of Mindsetdiscuss: 1. What stuck out in the chapter? 2. What
kind of language need to be used with students to shift learners to the growth mindset
overtime? 3. How will this new learning affect your teaching practices?

Large Group Inservice Day: March 7 (Early Out) - Jane and Sue will continue with the
Elements, specifically continuing with 4, 5, and on

Staff Meeting: March 12, 2014
Informed staff that I have accepted a job in Nisswa and answered questions (hopefully easing
minds) around that news

PLC Meeting: March 19, 2014
Read Chapter 6 from The Smartest Kids in the World and discussed the findings

March 28 (half day) - Peer Coaching: 3 points of contact video
Math Webinar with whole elementary staff with Expression
curriculum

PLC Meeting: April 2, 2014
Student data analysis and roster planning for 2014-2015 school year


Staff Meeting: April 9, 2014
Went over testing procedures for MCAs and the testing schedules

PLC Meeting: April 16, 2014
MCA III testing planning and organization

Staff Meeting: April 23, 2014
Logistics covered for open house, music program, bookfair, MCA testing, etc.

PLC Meeting: April 30, 2014
Staff asked to finish welcome back letters and solidify the supply lists for next year

Staff Meeting: May 7, 2014
Planning for end of the year field trips

PLC Meeting: May 14, 2014
Analyze NWEA Data and MCA III math data to solidify student roster suggestions

Large Group In-service May 15: Half of the day will be looking over math curriculum and
speaking to representatives from different math series. When there isnt a rep. in the
building, teachers are to be in their PLC looking over the math curriculum material
options. The second half of the day is reserved for staff to finish grades for quarter three.
