10/26 Task 2

A rise in the standard of living in a country often only seems to benefits cities rather
than rural areas. What problems might this difference causes? How might these
problems be reduced?
Rapid economic growth in many countries has led to a widening gap between cities
and rural areas; the main reason behind this is that cities hold the majority of the
population, thus consuming a greater part of the governments budget, hence leaving
little for rural provinces or areas to wor! with; therefore, leading to problems that are
mentioned in the following.
"irst but foremost, it is evident that when the #uality of life for city dwellers is
improved, many people in rural areas tend to move into the cities see!ing a better
#uality of life that is provided from higher levels of amenity in the city. $onse#uently,
over a period of time cities are unable to meet the supply and demand for ade#uate
living space for a large and fast growing population, which results in the deterioration
of the standard of living. "or instance, health care services are affected from the
influ% of more patients, possibly lowering its #uality and effectiveness.
&olicies and city planning programs should be implemented in rural areas to reduce
these problems. "or instance, governments should create and plan satellite towns
and villages around major cities, therefore easing the influ% of people into cities and
creating more living space for its inhabitants. 'his would reduce stress levels in
already crowded hospitals, but also with the building of new hospitals in these new
towns and villages encourage doctors and nurses to move and practice medicine in
rural areas, conse#uently bridging the medical care gap with in the country.
(n conclusion, a wide range of options are available to tac!le the problems described
and develop the whole country. ( firmly believe that governments will approach and
resolve many other relative problems to improve the standard of living in both regions
of the e#uilibrium.
