Slavery played a great role in the

because they were seen as disgusting and
lower people in comparison to the whites.

- Not allowing blacks to have a
mortgage.

- Segregation of buses ruled
unconstitutionally
- Black people rode the buses
again

Integrating Schools

What is the difference between the
State case of Brown vs. Topeka
and the Supreme Court case.

The Supreme Court case of Brown
vs. Board of Education was opened
after the state case of Brown vs.
Topeka was unsuccessful.
Effects of Little Rock on the USA

Great positive effect on the civil rights
movement through media attention
and public awareness, it also
enforced integration of black people in
to other schools.

Events of Little Rock

- Everything has to be integrated
after the Brown vs. board of
education.
- Arkansas has to integrate schools.
- The Supreme Court ordered
Arkansas to let in 9 black student
in Little Rock High.
- He prevents Black people from
entering to Ensure their safety
- Faubus backed down when
President sent federal troops to
protect the students for 6 weeks.




























The significance of MLK to the civil
rights movement.

Is that he believes in non-violent
direct protests/actions.

Believes it creates:

- Positive publicity for campaigners
because they are not violent
- Bad publicity for opponents
because they are violent

His methods included:

- Sit-ins - sitting in at a whites only
counter/area
- Picketing Persuading people not
to use it.
- Boycotts Not using any service
- Jail ins Deliberately getting
arrested and filling jails
- Mass marches.
