Last Update November 2013 and May 2014
Rationale I am including Introduction to Business chapter six notes
because in this chapter it discusses the nature of management
such as managers and human relations. I am including the
employee payroll in this reflection because it shows how I
figured out how much to make my one employee after
looking at the averages in the country and breaking it down by
year to month to week. I also included it because it shows that
having only one employee, I will be the manager of
everything they are just an assistant.
Knowledge

From doing the notes for chapter six, I learned that you have
to be planning ahead if you are going to be the manager. I
learned having the ability to deal with people inside or outside
of a business is human relations. An example is when you
have to make a decision in employee behavior or any other
areas you have to as the manager. The last thing I learned
from chapter six is that you have to motivate your employees
to the best they can and follow an agenda that you have in
place. The ways you can do this is by having flextime or
understand how your employee works. From writing the
employee payroll, I learned that you have to be fair in pay to
your employee or they are not going to be willing to work for
you. I also learned you need to figure out what that employee
will be doing and how it will be beneficial for the business to
have that person.
Skills The skills I used for taking notes from chapter six in the
Introduction to Business is understand the management levels
and what I need to put into my small business plan. I
developed the skill to take what I learned from writing notes
to transfer it into information I can use for my small business
plan. The skills I have gained are research on figuring out
how you should pay an employee. I also used the skills I have
previously learned from Excel with making formulas to figure
out how to break down a year to a month to a week with so
many hours at a particular pay.
Growth and
Improvement
Statement

Doing the notes for chapter six I believe I could have
improved in my connections I did with my small business
plan. An example is when I talk about the management
structure in my small business plan I believe I could have
related it more to the notes and incorporating more of the
words. With the employee payroll, I believe I could have
improved it by making the layout better. I feel it was a little
sloppy and hard to follow, so I think I could have reorganized
it. In both of these projects, I think I could have grown in my
understanding of how human management is really displayed
in a business and what it really takes to be in this position.
