The product measures ac- celeration with a minimum full-scale range of 3 g. It can measure the static acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications, as well as dynamic acceleration resulting from motion, shock, or vibration. 1 Features and Applications Features: 3-axis sensing Small, low prole package 4 mm 4 mm 1.45 mm LFCSP Low power : 350 A (typical) Single-supply operation: 1.8 V to 3.6 V Applications Mobile devices Gaming systems Disk drive protection Image stabilization Sports and health devices 2 Module SnapShot Following gure contains the Snapshot of the ADXL335 Sensor and its interfacing with Arduino. Figure 1: Interfacing with Arduino 3 Connection Details User can connect any ADC pin of host microcontroller to ADXL335 x-y-z pins. Power supply should be preferably the same as the Host con- troller. Hardware Description Following gure shows the internal block diagram of ADXL335 ac- celerometer. Figure 2: ADXL335 Internal Block The user selects the bandwidth of the accelerometer using the C X , C Y , and C Z capacitors at the X OUT , Y OUT , and Z OUT pins. Bandwidths can be selected to suit the application, with a range of 0.5 Hz to 1600 Hz for the X and Y axes, and a range of 0.5 Hz to 550 Hz for the Z axis. 4 USER MANUAL ADXL335 Refer following table to select the Bandwidth Bandwidth(Hz) Capacitor(F) 1 4.7 10 0.47 50 0.10 100 0.05 200 0.027 500 0.01 Table 1: Table caption Software description Three ADC channels are required for reading Analog values. The res- olution and conversion time depends on the MCU ADC clock frequency and capabilities. www.elementzonline.com 5
