History of Newton

His most famous story is the when Newton was sitting under a tree
and an apple fell on his head. He then formulated the Law of
Gravitation. He first thought that the apple is accelerated from the tree
towards the ground. And he applied his second law of motion, where he
called the force that acted and changed the velocity of the apple
gravity. And the acceleration which is caused by it is called the
acceleration due to gravity. He also assumed the force called gravity
reaches up to the top of the tallest tree.
And then he thought on how far this gravity would reach. He
also assumed that gravity could even reach the moon and that is why it
rotates and never leaves earth. He then conducted an imaginary
experiment where he has an imaginary canon and a ball. He said that
when the canon is fired at the top of the mountain it will surely fall back
to earth but when it is fired with an increased velocity, and revolves
around earth it will rotate on the orbit of earth and not hit the ground
conquering gravity. After that he formulated the Law of Universal
Gravitation which states that every object in the Universe attracts every
other object with a force directed along the line of centers for the two
objects that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely
proportional to the square of the separation between two objects. And
the formula: F
g
=G(m
1
m
2
/r
2
) where r is the distance between the objects,
m
1
and m
2
are the masses and G is the gravitational constant.
With the law of gravitation he computed the centripetal force
needed to hold a stone in a sling and the relation between the length of a
pendulum and the time of its swing. The shorter the pendulum the faster
it moves.
Then after applying it to humans, he said that weight is different
from the mass because weight is the gravitational force exerted on an
object of a certain mass. And the mass is the measurement of how much
material is in the body of an object. The formula theorized is W=mg
where m is the mass and g is the acceleration due to gravity.
