Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The 2014 National Sexual Assault Awareness
Month (SAAM) campaign focuses on healthy
sexuality and young people.
Healthy sexuality means having the
knowledge and power to express sexuality in
ways that enrich our lives. Its about every
person being able to make consensual,
respectful, and informed choices. There is no
room for pressure, violence, or control.
Healthy sexuality is a vision for sex,
relationships, and growth supported by positive
skills, helpful information, and open
communication. Healthy sexuality is a step
towards ending sexual violence. We can all
create positive change for the future and prevent
sexual violence.

Have you heard about Nexplanon?

Nexplanon is a small, soft, and
flexible birth control implant, 4 centimeters
in length. Your health care provider places
it discreetly under the skin on the inside of
your upper arm. Nexplanon provides up to
3 years of continuous pregnancy
prevention. That means no more daily,
weekly, or monthly dosing routine.
Once inserted, Nexplanon is over
99% effective, just like the pill. Periods are
often very mild with significantly less flow.
With Nexplanon, you dont have to
remember to take birth control every day.

In the 1930s, women organized their own birth control
clubs, such as the one in New Jersey with 800 members who
paid dues and carried cards entitling them to regular
examinations and access to early birth control methods.
