ETE 335 Elementary Social Studies Lesson Gardners Multiple Intelligences Goals: Learn what countries were involved in WWII. Understand advantages and disadvantages of the geography during WWII.
Objectives: Content/Knowledge: Identify knowledge or content objectives (Blooms Taxonomy of the Cognitive Domain). Students will be able to know what countries were involved in WWII. Process/Skills: Students will be able to understand the geographical advantages and disadvantages of the geography in WWII. Values/Dispositions: Students will be able to understand the boundaries and barriers that were in place because of the distances between the countries during WWII.
ETE 335 Elementary Social Studies Lesson Gardners Multiple Intelligences Rationale: It is important for students to learn about the countries that were involved in WWII and which countries were on what side. It is also important for students to know the geographic advantages and disadvantages that each country had during the war.

Logical/Mathematical Logical/Mathematical Find a statistic on this website that involves the countries that were in WWII. Create a graph or chart based on this data. Write a one paragraph analysis of the graph or chart that you made. Verbal/Linguistic Verbal/Linguistic Choose a country from this list (of the countries involved in WWII) and research how they were involved in WWII. Compose a brief speech about the countrys involvement in WWII. Musical/Rhythmic Musical/Rhythmic Read the poem on this website and study the WWII poet. Create a poem similar to the poem that you read. Visual/Spatial Visual/Spatial Look at the maps from WWII on this website. Choose one map and analyze the strategy of both sides of the people in the battle. Write a two paragraph paper on your analysis of the maps. Body/Kinesthetic Body/Kinesthetic In small groups, choose a country that was involved in WWII from this list. Students will research the country and the impact the war had on the country and its geography. Students will then create a poster using the information and pictures they have found. Interpersonal Interpersonal Students will get into small groups. Each group will be given a poster. Each group will choose a map from WWII from this list and re create the map on the posterboard. The maps will be displayed in the classroom. Intrapersonal Intrapersonal Read this excerpt from a WWII soldiers journal. Reflect on what it must have been like to travel so often yet still be expected to feel well and fight. Write a two paragraph reflection on the journal excerpt. Naturalistic Naturalistic Choose a map from this website. Analyze the map. Write a two paragraph reflection on how you feel the environment and terrain played a role in the battle and the outcome of the battle.
