My Observation Report
Name of the School Observed: Taguig Science High School______________ School Address: C.P. Tinga Sports Complex, Hagonoy, Taguig City_________ Date of Visit: January 31, 2013_____________________________________ Subject Observed: Second Year Students Section Darwin________________
A. Pupils Socio-Cultural Characteristics
Gender The population of the girls are greater than the boys in the class.
Age Range Nineteen students are aged thirteen and seventeen students are fourteen years old then three of them is already fifteen.
Religion Most of them are Catholic and Born Again Christian. Then the rest, there is an Iglesia ni Cristo, Jewish, IDBCY and Church of God.
Ethnic Group None
A. Distinct features of the learners observed
Physical All students are properly dressed and are presentable when they go to school. The girls hair are combed or is in a ponytail. The boys have properly trimmed hair. These is because there are strict rules implemented in the school. They are not allowed to enter the school when not in proper uniform. Boys are told to trim their hair.
Social From what I observed, all of the students are sociable since no one is cast away or a loner. Each of them interacts with each other. You can even say that they are all friends in that section. Although there are group of friends between them it doesn't mean that they are not united. Once they work as a whole class they become one .
Emotional Last time we were able to observe the students when they had an open forum. They had a simple misunderstanding that time. After speaking up and telling the how they felt and everything was resolve, things were back to normal. They just treated the misunderstanding as a way to strengthen their friendship and unity.
Intellectual I can say that although Darwin is not the section one, they are excellent students. They are fast learners and active participants. Although they get confused sometimes but once it was explained again and with the help of a lot of examples they can follow the lesson.
Your Analysis (To be shared with the Professional Education teacher in the class)
1. Describe how the teacher plays his/her role in allowing the learners interact with others in the classroom activities. The teacher acts as the facilitator during classroom/group activities. If they are having group activities the teacher would check each group and their progress. She will serve as the moderator between the groups during the time that they will present or pass their activity.
2. Have you noticed anyone or group that do not join the group? Why dont they join the others? As I've mentioned a while ago no one is left behind. the section is united as one. There's no loner, a cast out or whatsoever. The students have great relationship with each other.
3. How does the teacher influence the class interaction considering the individual differences of the students? The teacher uses different techniques and strategies during class interaction. Considering the individual differences of the students.
4. Are there interaction of learners outside of the classroom? Describe it. The students watches plays (engilsh). They would watch a play then they would have to pass their analysis about the play.
5. What factors may have influenced the grouping of learners outside the classroom? The factor for their grouping would be with their group of friend. Your Reflections
1. Based on your experience, do you see unity among the teachers and learners? Explain.
Yes, because the students interact with their teacher. They are open about problems and happenings in their class. They are not afraid or shy to ask the teacher about the lessons or other things related to their class.
2. Is there anything you would like to improve in the classroom interaction? How will you do it?
I think that would be the interaction of all the learners. It's because not all of them are reciting. There are students that seldom recites. So to improve this maybe we give them an activity wherein they are to recite one by one in the class, to boost their self confidence. Then sometimes call on them even if they are not raising their hand.
3. How will you encourage all learners, regardless of religious, ethnic or racial background interact and participate in class activities?
Always call them if the students is shy to recite so that their confidence level would improve. Give encouraging words and statements. Give activities that will boost their social characteristic. Give more group activities and let them recite one bu one.
