Re: Sci - SP 1 0 - BC Cancer Lab Assistant
Dear Ms. McDonald,
Reading about the BC Generations Project on the newspaper (24 Hours Vancouver) today has confirmed my initial desire to be a part of this exciting endeavor. As a diligent and reliable laboratory assistant at the Hawkin's Research Lab and a 4th year Cell and Molecular Biology student from Simon Fraser University, I am applying for the position of Cancer Lab Assistant at your organization. I believe that my organizational skills and great interest in doing routine laboratory work would be beneficial for the BC Generations Project.
My experiences working as an assistant at a molecular biology laboratory and taking a microbiology course this semester have enhanced my lab skills and aseptic techniques. I am WHMIS-certified and have safely worked with hazardous materials and pathogenic bacteria with great care and attention to detail. At work, I prepare growth media and bacterial cultures, pour plates for growth of C. e/egans, and perform other lab duties like preparing buffer solutions and autoclaving glassware. I work closely with graduate students and other research staff who rely on me to ensure smooth operations in the laboratory. Given my experiences, skills, and personal attributes, I strongly believe that I am qualified to do the job and will add value to your team.
Thank you for your time and attention. I am looking forward to an interview anytime at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Angel Jose
