Introduction: The lesson is intended as a revision of the previous lesson: Theory on Comparatives and Superlatives. Compare and contrasting people, objects and places. A final task will be carried out to integrate the new content after having revising it. Final task: Students will group in pairs and will decide on two items to be compared. They will be asked to create a comparison based on the following structure: Presentation of the items and brief description Similarities and Differences Conclusion and personal opinion Sts will have to use Voicethread (http://voicethread.com/) to create their presentation.
Objectives of this lesson: The students are expected to: to achieve fluency to practice pronunciation and intonation patterns to use language of comparison (X is better than Y, etc.) to select evidence that supports their arguments to use discourse markers (In my opinion, etc.) to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance the learning experience to use language in meaningful contexts
Technology Objectives: The use of technology will make the lesson more memorable as Sts are not used to using technology in the English classroom rather than podcasts or listening-oriented technologies.
Procedure: Steps of the lesson: 1) T will review the theory of comparisons on the board. She will elicit some examples from students so as to make sure they have understood the topic. 2) T will explain the project. 3) As Sts will have to use Voicethread to create their presentation, T will go over the steps on how to use the online resource. 4) Sts will decide on two items to be compared. 2 5) Sts will create their presentation.
Students Activity: Sts will create a presentation based on their previous research, including their voice, pictures and the language used for comparisons. They will share they work on a wall on Padlet that was previously created by the teacher.
Assessment: Sts will allow T to listen to their production in order to get feedback and correct some possible mistakes.
Back up plan: In case, there was no Internet connection and Sst could not record their voices online, T will record Sts using her mobile phone or Sts will use Audacity (in the computer room) to record themselves. At home, Sts will create their presentation in Movie Maker, uploading the recording and including pictures.
Homework / Follow Up: Sts will upload the final presentation on Padlet adding their names and a brief description so as the rest of the class can see it.
