In 1870, Lars entered in his journal: "I
traded place with Soren P. Jespersen and
moved to his farm in Huntsville east of
Ogden on July 12." The family remained
there to see the children grow and pro-
gress. Their names appeared often in re-
cords of civic and church activities.
Sarah spun yarn and wove cloth to
make clothes for the family. Lars was a
tailor and he made clothes for himself
and his boys. Sarah earned some money
by making cloth and carpets for others.
Sarah wrote, "My husband had two

1] A number of years ago I received a
letter from Fred Green who lives in Den-
mark. He is a descendent of Paul Jesper-
son, Sarah's brother, He said Sarah and
Paul were born at Leerbaek Manor in El-
ling parish on the outskirts of Frederik-
shavn. Many male descendants of his an-
cestor are still living in Frederikshavn
and are surnamed Poulsen. He promised
to send me the extensive genealogy he
had collected. I never received it. Later I
got an email from his brother saying that
Fred had died. He never mentioned the
genealogy or replied to my email.

wives. I was the first". And then wrote, "I
joined the Relief Society, 7 Jun 1881, and
was appointed visiting teacher, which I
tried to fulfill all my days".
Lars Nielsen died in Huntsville, 13
February 1920, sixteen years after his
first wife, Sara Marie. He was buried in
the Huntsville Cemetery by his son, Lars
Peter, who was sexton of the cemetery
for over 50 years. The journal, treasured
by his son, Lars Peter, wore out with age
and reading.

Nielsen. It is written in Danish. It was
given to a Danish man living in the U.S, to
translate. This man wrote the whole jour-
nal out in longhand in Danish and then
translated it. He said it was Old Style
Danish. He was not a member and didn't
know all the terminology. The journal is a
record of his missionary labors while in
Denmark. It covers the years 1854 to
1856.
