B1: Loss Of Grid and Subsea Cable Maximum Overvoltage

1.1 SVC out of Service

2 secs Loss of grid
2.1 secs open both CBs at each end of subsea cable
Conditions
Grid = 495 MVA
No SVC in service
FPSO GTG in of service
Full load on FPSO

Comments
1) What is GTG maximum transient active power and for how long ?
2) Why is GTG providing 38.5 MVar in the steady state? The FPSO load is much less than 38.5
MVAr, it is approximately 22.5 MVAr?
3) Whilst the subsea cable is connected to the FPSO for 100ms without grid, how much reactive
power flows in the generator ?
4) What is maximum overvoltage at FPSO 11kV and for how long ?
5) Will GTG protection be operated ?
6) Are transient voltage and frequency limits met ?
7) In the results have we not shown the load shedding ? Did we use the load shedding EDSA
model file.

1.2 SVC In Service
2 secs Loss of grid
2.1 secs open both CBs at each end of subsea cable
Conditions
Grid = 495 MVA
SVC in service
FPSO GTG in service
Full load on FPSO
Note: Overvoltage on FPSO should be lower as SVC connected to subsea cable for 100ms until
subsea cable is disconnected

1.3 SVC out of Service
2 secs Loss of grid
2.1 secs open both CBs at each end of subsea cable
Conditions
Grid = 495 MVA
No SVC in service
FPSO GTG in of service
FPSO no load (open all 11kV swbd outgoing circuit CBs and 110 kV ASDS feeder CBs)

1.4 SVC In Service
2 secs Loss of grid
2.1 secs open both CBs at each end of subsea cable
Conditions
Grid = 495 MVA
SVC in service
FPSO GTG in service
FPSO no load (open all 11kV swbd outgoing circuit CBs and 110 kV ASDS feeder CBs)

B2.1: Loss Of Grid and Subsea Cable Maximum Undervoltage
Opening of FPSO 110kV incoming CB
Use load shedding studies as in the last study B1
Leave grid connected
