COURSE MATERIAL (EXISTING SYLLABUS/NEWSYLLABUS)
The entire printed course material in the form of notes is divided into number of modules consisting of basic
concepts and examples to bring out clarity. At the end of the module, number of problems are given in
assignment sheets. Objective type questions are also incorporated at the end of assignment sheet. The course
is updated regularly, and additional material is always available on our website

You can enroll at any time (as the despatch schedule is adjustable). However you are advised to join as early as
possible, because it will give you more time for study and revision of the course material.

The Study Material, assignment sheets, question bank, test papers etc., are the property of AMIE(I) STUDY
CIRCLE(Regd.) and should be used confidentially.

EVALUATION PROGRAMME(Self Assessment Test Series)
In this programme postal tests will be conducted after completion of the course. These test papers contain most
important questions which may be asked in forthcoming AMIE/AMIETE examinations. You have to solve test
papers in three hour duration under strict examination conditions. Your answer sheets will be evaluated by our
faculty and the marks obtained with answers, hints and suggestions will be despatched to you. Sealed answers
will also be despatched with test papers.

DESPATCH OF COURSE MATERIAL
Despatch of course material will commence after 7 days of getting completed enrolment form. The despatch of
sets will be by registered parcel. However, it may be sent through speed post/courier in emergency. The course
booklets will not be mailed by VPP - or before receiving your fees.

LANGUAGE
The course materials will be in English language, easy to understand. However in few subjects, English - Hindi
- English vocabulary is given at each page footer.

NEW SCHEME/SYLLABUS OF AMI E EXAMI NATI ONS
Q. 1 What are the engineering branches in which Section B Examinations will be conducted fromSummer 2005?
Ans. Section B examination would be conducted in ten engineering branches, namely , Civil, Chemical, Computer Science,
Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Materials & Metallurgical, Mining , Production and Textile engineering.

Q. 3 How many subjects are required to pass in Section A (Non-diploma)/ Section (Diploma) / Section B
examination?
Ans. Number of subjects to pass in Section A (Non-diploma) will be 10; Section A (Diploma) 4 and Section B 9. In
addition, project work and laboratory experiments are compulsory.

Q. 4 Is there any restriction of subject to appear in an examination?
Ans. Yes, maximum number of subjects in which a candidate shall be permitted to appear at a time in an examination is as
follows : Section A (Non-diploma) -Four subjects; Section A (Diploma) - All four subjects; Section B - Four subjects.

Q. 5 What would be the evaluation system?
Ans. Grading system, instead of marks, shall be followed for evaluation of all elements of the revised scheme. However,
candidates continuing in existing scheme will be awarded marks, instead of grade, in all subjects as per existing examination
rules. For details of grading system consult rules booklet (page 1).

Q. 6 Whether project work and laboratory experiments are compulsory?
Ans. Yes, Project work and sessional work on laboratory experiments are compulsory and shall be evaluated. A candidate
shall be eligible for project work and sessional work on laboratory experiments (ten experiments) only after securing
minimum grade C (50 - 59 %marks) in any 5 (five) subjects in an engineering branch of Section B.

Q. 7 Is there any time gap after passing Section A examination and for appearing in Section B examination?
Ans. No. After passing Section A examination, a candidate is eligible to appear in Section B in immediate next examination
after registration for Section B.

Q. 8 What is the procedure for registration of Section B?
Ans. After passing Section A examination, marks-sheet / grade card along with format for registration for Section B will be
sent to individual candidates. The content of the format will mainly include choice of engineering branch, optional subjects,
engagement details and blank Identity Card, etc. For this purpose, a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 2000/- only for
Section B is required to be paid. No further fee towards the allotment of Project Guide shall be charged. The candidate will
become eligible for project work after securing minimum grade C in any 5 (five) subjects of Section B The registration for
Section B shall be valid for six years only In case a candidate desires to change the branch of engineering after registration
for Section B, he has to apply afresh with a registration fee of Rs. 2000/- only without change of original registration period of
six years.

ABOUT OUR COURSE
Q. How effective your postal course is?
A. Ours is a result oriented course, and is highly effective. We know that it works. The effectiveness of the course depends
on whether you make use of the lessons and assignments. The degree of effectiveness would vary with factors beyond our
control, such as the extent to which you make use of them - just as what happens when you go to university. So we cannot
guarantee cent percent marks. But as far as we are concerned, we are absolutely convinced that this course is capable of
helping you achieve extremely good marks provided you read it from first page to last page.
Q. Why I should join your postal course, why not book?
A. Well, this a very interesting question. You know, generally a book covers syllabus of all the engineering colleges in India to
augment the sale of the book. In other words, books are not focused according to AMIE/AMIETE Examinations. So you have
to put extra efforts to make notes from the book so as to make it useful for your purpose. In this process you waste your

Q. Would I face any difficulty studying this postal course by myself?
A. This is a self study course. And so this course is meant for those AMIE/AMIETE aspirants who are willing to study on their
own - without being instructed by someone else. And our study materials make this quite easy to do. It is almost impossible

ABOUT AMIE EXAMINATIONS
Q. Informme about AMIE Examinations.
A. The Institution examinations are held twice a year, generally in June and in December termed as SUMMER AND
WINTER examinations, the programme thereof and the last date of submission of examination forms, are notified through the
TECHNICIANS JOURNAL/Web site, of the Institution. The Examination fee is Rs. 1000/- for both Sec A (Diploma
stream/Non Diploma Stream) / Section B. The Institution of Engineers has a network of examination centers in different parts
of the country. Also note that
Examination form is available at our website.
You should normally select the Examination centres within the jurisdiction of your respective state/local centres. In
exceptional circumstances, you may be permitted to appear from the centres outside the jurisdiction of your state
centre provided you enclose with your examination form a satisfactory reason.
Admit cardwill not be despatched at your home address. This should be collected from your examination centre
one or two days before commencement of examinations.

Q. My local centre is Roorkee but I want to sit in AMIE examinations fromNew Delhis centre because I amin J ob
there. Can I do so.
A. Yes, you can do so. Just choose Delhi centre as first choice while filling up examination form. Also enclose an application
stating that as youare working in Delhi hence you intend to appear from Delhi centre.

Q. What are prospects after passing AMIE?
A. After passing Section A and B of the Institution Examination you will become Corporate Member of the Institution of
Engineers(I).Now you can designate yourself as a Chartered EngineerYou may appear in GATE Examinations(conducted
on second Sunday in February, notification in Times of India in October) for M.E./M.Tech. courses After passing AMIE
Examinations you may appear postgraduate Diploma examinations conducted by The Institution of Engineers(India),
Kolkata. Presently these Examinations for Postgraduate Diploma are scheduled at five centres, namely, Kolkata , Chennai ,
Nagpur, Delhi, and Hyderabad. These examinations are conducted in April and October You may apply for three year
L.L.B. course conducted by Bar Council of India You may now work as a Consultant in respective engineering field. You
may sit in various competitive examinations viz. IES, IAS , MBA, and many more You may get promotions in many
Government /Private/Public sector departments You may apply for superior posts.
Q. My friend has just finished Diploma fromInstitution of Mechanical Engineers, Mumbai. Can he appear in AMIE
Examinations?
A. As Diploma from IME, Mumbai is not recognized by I.E.(India), Kolkata, he can not apply for AMIE(Diploma stream).
However, he may apply for AMIE(Non Diploma Stream) on 10+2 basis with PCM group. A point to be noted here is that
Diploma from I.E.T.E., New Delhi is recognized by I.E., Kolkata for AMIE(Diploma stream).
Q. My friend has obtained 44.3%marks(total aggregate) in 10+2, his PCM is 50%and he has passed in English. Can
he apply for AMIE membership to appear in AMIE Examinations..

A. No, He cant. Total aggregate and PCM aggregate must be at least 45%. However he may appear in AMIETE
examinations. For this purpose he must contact The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers, Lodi
Road, New Delhi (Ph: 011-24631820/30/40).
Q. When the result of AMIE Examinations is declared?
A. The result of AMIE examinations is declared after 14 weeks of examination.. For example, Summer/Winter examinations
are generally conducted in first/second week of June/December, and the result is declared in last week of September/March.

ABOUT AMIETE EXAMINATIONS
Q. What is the eligibility for AMIETE examinations?
A. Please see explanatory chart given at the back page.
Q. Informme about AMIETE Examinations.
A. The Institution examinations are held twice a year, generally in 15 June and in 15 December. Firm dates of the
commencement of each Examination and the examination centers will be intimated to students along with admit card. Cost of
examination application form is Rs. 20/- and the examination fee is Rs. 250/- Per subject. English remains the medium of
AMIETE examinations. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers has a network of examination
centers in different parts of the country. There is a provision of recounting of marks and improvement of marks.
Q. Please setail me about time limit to complete AMIETE.
A. A student is required to complete AMIETE Examination within 2 enrollment periods from the date of initial enrollment. The
student will, therefore, be permitted to seek only one renewal of membership.

Q. What are the pass marks?
A. The pass marks for AMIETE Examination is 40%in individual subject (except Project & Lab Practice) with an aggregate of
50%marks with other conditions/norms as laid down by the Institution. Pass marks for Project & Lab Practice Examination is
50%.
Q. What is Examination Schedule?
A. The examination schedule is 15-22 June and 15-22 December and will be conducted on all days including holidays and
Sundays. The sequence of the papers of exams is listed in respective Syllabi.

ABOUT HIGHER EDUCATION AFTER AMIE/AMIETE
Q. Can I get admission in M.E./M.Tech courses after completing AMIE/AMIETE?
A. Yes, after completing AMIE/AMIETE, you can apply for GATE entrance examination for getting admission in M.E./M.Tech
courses in various universities/engineering colleges. GATE is normally conducted on second Sunday in February. The
notification for GATE is generally published in October in leading newspapers. Getting good percentile score in GATE opens
gateway to higher education with attractive scholarship. GATE qualified candidates( in Engineering subjects) will also be
eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories. After having a valid GATE score, an
AMIE/AMIETE should apply for admission to postgraduate programmes in individual institutions, at appropriate time.
Admissions of candidates to postgraduate programmes will be governed by the rules and regulations of individual institutions
to which they apply. An AMIE/AMIETE should also be equipped with migration certificate which can be obtained from the last

completed application form given in this prospectus or email/sms us payment details (date,

(AMIE/AMIETE) and name of subjects or Go to our website and send us online form.
The fee may also be paid at the office counter on all working days, against receipt. Please
take prior appoinment(on phone) before visiting our office.
The office remains close on Sunday and Wednesday(AN).
Fee may also be sent by Money Order.
You can enrol at any time ( as the despatch schedule is adjustable ). However you are
advised to join as early as possible, because it will give you more time for study and revision
of the coaching material.
