PART A- A brief summary of the biological basis of the disease and the
bodies response to it. (13 marks)

1. Introduce your coursework and describe the communicable and non-
communicable diseases you will study and compare.

2. Describe the biological basis of the disease and 3 or more facts about how
the body responds to the disease.

3. Describe 3 or more different signs and symptoms each disease present in
the human body.

4. Explain what methods are used to diagnose these diseases.

5. Use correct specialist terminology to achieve the higher mark bands. At
least 4 different sources to hit MB3.

PART B- Information about the causes and distribution of the diseases.(13
marks)

6. Identify and review 3 or more factors that can lead to this disease being
distributed (passed on) and how society deals with it.

7. Compare the differences and similarities between each disease.

RESEARCH HOW BOTH ARE CAUSED & THE IMPACT THEY HAVE ON TREATMENT & PEOPLES

PART C- Analysis of availability of support, facilities for diagnosis & treatment
in your locality and factors that affect. (17 marks)

8. How are your diseases diagnosed & differentiated from diseases with
similar signs and symptoms? Give at least 3 examples.

9. Examine and explain 4 factors that can affect the outcome of treatment of
both diseases.

10. Compare what support is available for individuals with your 2 chosen
diseases, locally and nationally. Support can be from health professionals,
Voluntary workers or local and national groups

11. Compare that support to any other CD/NCD diseases.

12. Identify work related issues and problems both diseases can cause.

13. Demonstrate you have used extensive research sources by including
material you have found, quoting from health promotion information,
quoting from professionals you may have spoken to and referring to your
appendix.

PART D.- Evaluation of the strategies for the prevention of the disease and
factors that might affect them (17 marks)

14. Evaluate your work including strategies for prevention and 3 reasons why
these are not always successful.

15. Suggest how any work related issues impact on prevention support and
