OBJECTIVE: In this course, we will be exploring ways to further your current
computer knowledge and learn new skills. We will be improving keyboarding
skills and working with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel,
Powerpoint, Prezi, email, and other programs. Even if you know the basics of a
program, we will be looking at some more in-depth usages.

CLASS TIME: Usually, class will consist of a keyboarding lesson or activity, some
instructional time, and an assignment. You are expected to be courteous and
attentive during class time. Some students will complete the work faster than
others. Those who finish early will be allowed to work on their computers or
iPads at other tasks, provided they do not disturb others.

LEAVING CLASS: You are asked to shut down your computer, clean up around
your desk (pick up trash even if it isnt your trash), push in chairs and leave
quietly.

ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES: In accordance with the handbook, unexcused
absences will result in a lowering of your quarter grade by 5 points. Any time
you are absent, YOU are responsible for asking for the makeup work your first
day back in class. I will allow you the number of days absent X 2 to make up
your work. For example, if you are absent 2 days, you will have 4 days to make
up your work.

You will have two days after your return to school to SCHEDULE any missed
tests. Do not wait for me to ask you about them. It is your responsibility to
keep up with missed work.

LATE WORK: I will NOT accept late homework, except for assignments missed
due to excused absences. Major assignments (projects, etc.) will be accepted
late, but will be docked ten points per day.

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING ASSIGNMENTS: All assignments will be posted on
the website provided above. If you are absent, please go to that site to see
what you missed (See ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES above).

HALL AND RESTROOM USAGE: I expect you to bring needed items to class. I
also expect you to take care of bathroom needs before class. If you will be
tardy (due to a trip to the bathroom or locker) please write your name and
destination on the board (you must write your own name on the board). I will
not count you tardy.
Go only where you have said you will be.
Do not abuse the privilege.
My class is not the time to run your personal errands.
If this system isnt sufficient (we are having excessive trips out of the
classroom), I will adjust the policy and revert to the tried and true Hall
Pass method.

GRADING:
Keyboarding lessons will be averaged at the end of the week. You will
get a weekly grade (out of 100) for keyboarding based on this average.
Daily assignments will be averaged each Friday. You will receive a
classwork grade each week that will be the average of these grades.
o All weekly assignments are due on Friday at the end of class
unless other arrangements are made.
Tests will be given periodically, worth 100 points.
Other assignments and projects may be determined later.
Grades will be posted on Edline.

RULES:
Act right.
o Act as if you are a Christian. This means that you follow the rules
laid out for you in the handbook, and more importantly the
precepts for Christian behavior laid out in the Bible. Be
courteous, kind, and respectful.
Be prepared.
o Bring all materials. Be in your seat and ready to begin when the
bell rings.
Have the right attitude.
o Be respectful to God, your school, your teacher, your classmates,
and all others. This includes not talking when you are not
supposed to, not bothering other peoples belongings, not being
unkind, not gossiping, not snapping at others, not complaining,
etc. Leave stinky attitudes at the door. See Act right above.
Dont be a distraction to others.
o Keep your mouth shut when it needs to be. Keep your hands, feet,
etc. to yourself.
Talk nicely!
o Sweet, kind, appropriate language is expected from everyone at
all times.
You are responsible for your own actions. NO EXCUSES. NO WHINING.
PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF. Dont blame others when you mess up.
If I see your cell phone or iPad out for any reason (and you havent had
permission from me), I will collect it. No amount of begging will cause
me to give it back. You will have to plead your case with Coach
Mitchell.
You are NEVER allowed to bring food or drink into the computer lab.

CONSEQUENCES (formality, we should never need these):
1. Verbal warning/ Conference with the teacher
2. Discuss problem with student/ appropriate course of action to be
discussed (i.e. extra assignment given).
