Instructions for the Extemporaneous Compounding of:
Amiodarone Hydrochloride Suspension 20mg/ml

Instructions for Preparation: 1. Using a sterile alcohol wipe clean the pestle and mortar. Allow to dry 2. Print the required number of labels and leave to one side. 3. Count the required number of amiodarone tablets. Check. 4. Grind the tablets to a fine powder in the mortar. 5. Measure the required amount of Diluent C in dry, clean graduated cylinder and slowly add, in increments, to the contents of the mortar. Mix well. 6. Transfer the suspension to a graduated cylinder and bring to volume with rinsings of Diluent C. Important to ensure all of the suspension is transferred. Check. 7. Transfer to a sterile bottle. Cap and label appropriately. 8. Leave to one side for checking. Final Check
